Research shows that meal replacement plans can help control blood sugar in people with diabetes. But drastically reducing how much you eat could lead to dangerously low blood sugar if you take diabetes medicine. Work with your doctor to monitor your blood sugar and know what action to take if it falls too low.
The Basic, at $275 a month, is good for first-timers; the Basic plan includes pre-selected, ready-to-go meals including burgers, pasta, and chocolate—customer favorites. Nutrisystem says their plan is “affordable guaranteed weight loss.”
So a typical day on Nutrisystem would go like this. I get up and exercise for 30 minutes to an hour. I drink coffee and water after my workout to get my body moving. Then after a shower I get ready for work and when I get to work I have breakfast. Breakfast is a protein shake and a breakfast entrée. Most mornings I would have a muffin with a protein shake. Super yummy and it doesn’t feel like a diet at all.
Today is my 7th day on the diet (first 5+ week). I’m supposed to lose 5+ guaranteed! But I have only lost 2.4 lbs!!! I will give it a couple more days. If I don’t lose any more. I will return all their food and want my money back. I hope they don’t give me a hard time for that.
Let me start by saying that I buy my cards through Costco for $199.00. This is actually a good plan because you get the card and then you go on Nutrisystem’s web site. The Nutrisystem website offers ratings on the food items. Trust me, you don’t want them telling you what you’re going to be eating. This plan is weekdays only. So, weekends are on your own. I way prefer this. Years ago my wife and I did the full plan and the auto-ship thing. We ended up with a ton of uneaten, expensive food. On this plan I can accomplish several goals. On this, I order food when I’m ready so, if we go on vacation I don’t have a shipment sitting on my front porch in the rain for a week and I’m not accumulating a lot of expensive food I can’t eat. I know I have two days a week to plan out potential restaurant trips. The weekends on your own works far better for me. This plan teaches me to eat right even when not eating Nutrisystem’s food and I’m getting better at it.
Although I’m pretty worried about the disgusting smell, taste and texture of the foods that hundreds have complained to ConsumerAffairs.com about, I think what most concerns me is the huge calorie deficit. At less than 1500 calories per day, I will be cutting my estimated current intake nearly in half.
Hey Marion, sounds like you got a bad deal there, but I don’t know why you hated this so much. I also tried the Sliver plan a couple months ago and found the food okay. Sure, it wasn’t wonderful, but not so bad I wanted to stop eating it. I got through and lost weight. Maybe my stomach is better tuned into spicy food as I actually like to eat Mexican dishes — part of the reason I got overweight in the first place! And the pizza wasn’t like you describe. You sure you didn’t overcook it?
This week, I obsessed over every aspect of the Nutrisystem diet. Our in-depth review focused on the meal delivery system, pricing and auto-ship, customer service quality and clinical research. Plus, we read hundreds of testimonials and user experiences. Then, we summarized and condensed to give you the info you need.
A Chicago investment firm took over management of debt-ridden Nutri-System Inc. on Wednesday after a bankruptcy court judge dismissed a trustee appointed to run the weight-loss company. Heico Acquisitions, a firm that invests in troubled companies, will run Nutri-System Inc. for about a month while deciding whether to buy it, former trustee John T. Carroll said. The move resolves, at least for now, the financial chaos surrounding Blue Bell, Pa.-based Nutri-System.
Nutrisystem offers a 14-day free trial whereby the customer can cancel and receive a refund (less shipping costs). However, if cancelling after the 14 days AND before the second month is shipped, a $99.00 fee is charged to the customer.
Well, 6 have already gone and I’m looking to make that 20 for sure. I’m a determined guy and when I start something I stick to the plan through and through and I always finish it no matter what. Hey, this is just so easy I love it!
Debbie – It actually comes with 25 days of breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner, because for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks, you are told to eat a flex meal once per week for either breakfast, lunch, and dinner (not all on the same day). So, the meals included are 25 (28 less 3).
Have you found that Nutrisystem is a good way for keeping the weight off over the long term? It sounds like you have been able to, but I don’t want to lose a bunch of weight and then put it all back on again. Thanks.
I pretty much agree with the above comments. Especially all the difficulties with the colon system, bloating, gas & constipation. Plus the list could go on & on. This is month 2 & I’ve only lost 6 lbs. of the 30 pounds wanted to lose.
Some people prefer to have one final binge but I did not. I got my first order just before the Christmas holidays. I decided to start with my new way of eating and skip overeating on Christmas and New Year’s Day too. I actually followed the plan as close to 100% as I could for the first few months. I didn’t allow myself to “cheat” because I know myself and if I “cheat” a little it will lead to totally giving up. Some people are able to allow some planned indulgences but I am not one of those people.
The focus is on portion control, balanced nutrition and small, frequent meals. Ordinarily, tracking all of these variables would take a lot of work–even with modern devices like smartphones. The reason the system revolves around pre-made meals is because as long as you consume most of your calories through your prescribed meal plan, you will stay on track and should lose weight.
Outside of food, the diet also includes counseling, which some say makes the difference. For me, the counseling was helpful. My friendly counselor, Jamie, called me every week to check on me and candidly answered my questions.
The skinny: The Zone diet is mostly meat, fruits, and vegetables. Home-delivered “gourmet” frozen meals have a ratio of 40 percent carbs/30 percent proteins/30 percent favorable fats, designed to promote stable insulin levels, increased energy and weight loss. You eat three meals per day plus two Zone protein-powder snacks.
2018 is going to be a great year for dieters looking to shed those unwanted extra pounds! Nutrisystem is in the forefront of the diet industry and they have come out for the New Year with guns blazing.
Hello there, I was on the fence about whether to try Nutrisystem to lose some weight but couldn’t find any really useful information online. There are far too many articles that are just lame sales pitches and they are no use to anyone. Glad I found your article, cause it actually told me some things about the product that I wasn’t sure about before. Thanks!
After that, you make a few key decisions, most difficult of which may be “breakfast burrito or Italian herb flatbread pizza?” and “red velvet whoopee pie or thin mint crisp bar?” Just wait for the breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts to show up at your doorstep, then dig in. You can’t completely avoid the supermarket, though. You’ll have to swing by to pick up the mandatory fruits, veggies, protein and dairy products of your liking to supplement Nutrisystem’s packaged meals. A glossy pamphlet tells you how much and when to add your grocery items. Depending on your plan – there are gender-specific tracks for adults, seniors, diabetics and vegetarians – you’ll eat five to six times a day. The program can also be customized for those needing a lower sodium (about 1,500 mg/day) level.
I started with Bistro MD, but after losing my job I couldn’t afford it any more so I moved over to Nutrisystem men’s basic plan. I have been on the plan for about one month now and have already lost seven pounds (which wasn’t happening with Bistro MD). I’m happy to say that losing weight has never been easier. The Nutrisystem plan is very easy to follow and simple to understand.
I’m truly blown away! I haven’t done anything different except eat the food they sent plus some grocery items they recommended. And I’m drinking more water, like a glass before each meal. I’ve never been able to lose weight on diets before. This is a first for me and I like it!
How did I do it? Well let me admit at the top that I did it without exercise. I am not proud of the fact I really hate exercise. It isn’t the exercise itself that I despise, it’s the breaking away from the crazy, hectic, busyness of my full life and adherence to my never ending to-do list which never leaves space for exercise. UGHH. I know it’s a problem. I will address this in month two as I fear I will plateau without it so I am prepared to tackle this in a big way.
Take charge of your health with the Nutrisystem D meal plan. Specially designed to help maintain healthy glucose levels, this program includes 28 delicious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts/snacks–all proportioned for a balanced diet.
