The cost of Nutrisystem weight-loss program is about $300 for a month’s supply of meals and snacks. “You need to buy your own fresh fruit and vegetables if you want to supplement your diet. Other than that, there do not appear to be any hidden costs,” says Kimball.
I’ve been on nutrisystem twice. The first time I lost 35 lbs, then I had a baby, now I’m working on the second time through. The food has greatly improved since last time I was on it. I also tried the vegetarian route but got quite bored with it since there isn’t much variety yet and it also gave me stomach cramps. Since I started the regular womens program a week ago along with walking at least a half hour every day and i have already lost 5 lbs!
Its good for portion control. I am starting my 2nd month and I haven’t exercised but lost 6lbs. If I would exercise the benefit would be much better. If you supplement your meals with Steam fresh vege’s and brown rice with your dinner it really fills you up. Good luck.
Starting day 5 on fast five plan. Day 4 was terrible with constant stomach pain, not gas pain. The pain was present most of the day and through the night and I’m still uncomfortable this morning. Did not vary from the plan at all so far. I’m 68, 5′-9″, 171 lbs. Accumulate fat from chest to pelvis, man boobs, muffin top. Pre N.S. diet was fairly healthy, no packaged meals, mostly homemade, just guilty of overeating and eating late. Now I’m concerned about this stomach pain and wondering if I should continue with this diet.
The simplicity of the system was also regularly praised in many customer reviews we found. Several people enjoyed the stress-free “a la carte” style of dining it permitted without having to calculate every little detail.
It’s important to keep your expectations in check, though. Remember that your meals for the day cost around $10, you’re not going to be eating Ruth’s Chris. That said, they taste pretty good considering the price, and they’re effective at helping you lose weight, which was the biggest factor for me.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company’s size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm’s responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
Nutrisystem is a great diet plan for anyone – especially men. I am using the Nutrisystem men’s basic plan and I couldn’t ask for a better diet plan. I get to eat great food that is already prepared for me everyday. I don’t have to think about calories. I don’t have to worry about eating healthy. All I have to do is follow the basic directions for following the plan and eat the Nutrisystem foods. The best part about the Nutrisystem plan is that I lost seven pounds since I started it a month ago.
According to WebMD, a typical Nutrisystem meal is half “smart” carbs—ones that don’t raise blood sugar—with the other half equal parts protein and good fats. Nutrisystem also limits sodium (salt) to about 2,000 milligrams a day.

They send you the food and you follow the plan. I think the most important thing is that they don’t make you go through “brain drain”- not being overwhelmed is a critical part of succeeding on a diet.
The basic plan is great for anyone who wants to save money, or just wants to give the Nutrisystem program a trial run. It will give you a great idea of what their meals and snacks are like, plus it is a very cost-effective way to reach your weight loss goals. It only costs about $10 per day, so when you compare that to what most people typically spend on their meals on a given day, Nutrisystem’s basic plan is very affordable, and an easy way to lose weight.
Jenny Craig has become best-known for the celebrities who are followed while losing weight on this diet. They explain how easy it is and how delicious the food is, and you see the results as they are happening. This diet provides you with your foods and snacks to ensure you consume the exact amount of calories your body needs to lose weight. You add fresh produce and dairy. You meet with a consultant on a weekly basis to discuss your progress, and who will assist you with transitioning to your own food when you are ready to do so. Physical activity is emphasized throughout the diet.
I followed the program without exception. Although I lost some bulk the first week, at the end, I never actually lost weight. I gained 1 lb. and that was disappointing although I enjoyed the food. I called and spoke with a counselor. He said that I was doing everything the right way but that I should cut back on the diet soda, which I did but it did not change anything.
You won’t be hungry with this plan since it does provide quite a bit of food. Sometimes the portions won’t seem very big, but if you add a small fresh salad or some fruit you should be satisfied with how much you are eating. When you read some of the Nutrisystem reviews you will gain a clearer understanding of this and more information about just how satisfying the meals really are.
Thanks for your honest review. I’m contemplating this program, haven’t looked into WW or Jenny Craig yet. I wanted to do some research and really find out what I can expect. I really hope my only problem is portion sizes, I think carbs do me alot of damage and I’m afraid NutriSystem may contain too many.
A lot of their lunches are sort of crepes, whole wheat crepes. There is a mixture of this and that inside the crepe. It may advertise as four cheese melt, or chicken fajita melt. There are a number of them. There is a very nice picture on the package, but your food looks absolutely nothing like the picture. Inside you will generally find a sort of paste, a mush, and some of it leaks out of the crepe, kind of busts through. It’s not that bad.
Glad to hear you had success with Nutrisystem and would wholeheartedly agree with you on the portion sizing. I look at what I eat now vs. two years ago and it’s crazy. I got that from them and the changed diet was combo between them and us just changing our habits.

The following is a blog documenting two Los Angeles Times editors’ attempts to lose weight. It all began on Jan. 10 . My weight-loss partner, Tony, is turning into Elvis Presley. Well, he’s going to Vegas. And he’ll probably have a few dozen grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches. You can see it a mile away. He just quit something called the Cookie Diet (after being on it for about 10 days), ate an entire box of chocolates yesterday and is now heading to Las Vegas for a long weekend.
I recommend the Nutrisystem men’s basic plan if you are a man whose having problems with portion control and who needs to lose some weight. Do not be afraid of having to give up eating great food because you’re still going to get great food with Nutrisystem.
Unfortunately, when it comes to helping patients lose weight, many physicians don’t do much beyond nagging. If you’re lucky, yours may outline a regimen, refer you to a dietitian nutritionist or recommend a local program. If not, you’ll be on your own.
Nutrisystem will happily part you from your hard earned money. Make sure you know you have to take two auto deliveries or you will be charged an additiinal 90 bucks for the supposed discount they offered. I don’t know about you but don’t you get sick of companies manipulating and scheming how to deceive you and get more money. I’m just so tired as a consumer. Anyway, Nutrisystem zapped me on this one and I wanted to warn others.
3. It works. Quite simply, the program works if you stick to it. I have only been able to lose weight in the past if I did juicing fasts. I have already lost weight and am learning why I have been overweight through this program. I am confident that I can now eat my own food and keep my weight under control. I have never been able to. I did have to get used to the smaller portions and I now feel satisfied on them. I learned to fill up on veggies and that I just have always eaten too much and the wrong things. I intend to stay on the program until I reach my goal weight. I am just so happy I gave this a try.
With Nutrisystem you literally eat every two or three hours—breakfast, snack (fruit or a Nutrisystem snack), lunch, a Nutrisystem-approved snack in the afternoon, dinner and dessert. The three main meals and at least one or more of the snacks are prepared Nutrisystem foods. You can also choose from a vegetarian plan or a diabetes-specific plan.
