Thank you Norman! Only 2 days in and I’m down 3.5 lbs. It seems as soon as I get hungry it’s time for another meal or snack so that’s working well too AND….. I haven’t yet tried a food item I don’t like (that’s probably my problem, LOL) Loving it so far! Thanks again.
Hi Kris – congrats on signing up – while results will vary for everyone, I truly believe that you will lose a lot of weight if you follow the program – so stick with it, and let us know how it goes. Best of luck with your weight loss- we’re pulling for you :-).
I joined the plan and Nutrisystem sent me dieting tools, instructions on how to use the plan and great tasting foods. I also have access to Nutrisystems website. The website includes chat rooms, blogs, and group discussions about dieting. The website is a great place for me to go to receive support.
I have been eating Nutrisystem for only a week now and have had horrible bloating and gas, which I’m not prone to have. Something in the ingredients or much of the food does not agree with me; perhaps some additive. I’m throwing the rest away and cancelling the next autoshipment. I was on Jenny Craig about 10 years ago and didn’t have these issues, except for one of the JC anytime bars. Otherwise, the taste of most of this food is fine.
In fact, looking around at the many ads for diet programs and realizing the many amazing possibilities that are available to you, it’s hard to see how anyone would not want to make life easy for themseves.
One of the parts of this program that I really like is the Restaurant Guide. We love to eat out on the weekends, and I know this Restaurant Guide is going to help me a lot. I am happy so far with the plan, and I hope I’m finally on the way to getting to the weight I’ve always wanted to be.
Nutrisystem programs, especially the Lean 13 program, are designed to bring clients serious results in a short period of time. If you follow the directions that they provide you on Lean 13, for example, you can expect significant weight loss within the first week of the program. Of course, these are not the limitations of the program. It is important to note that Nutrisystem does not guarantee results of any type, but it does offer money back in certain cases, such as late or broken products. Nutrisystem advertises that its plans are laid forth with advice from medical professionals, and that they have millions of clients with success stories, including celebrities and professional athletes. However, every body type is different. You may experience less or more depending on your natural metabolism, your previous diet and your lifestyle. The majority of your success will come from following directions set forth within the program that you choose.
If NS does nothing but help me with portion control 90% of the time…I’m still ahead of the game. If I lose 30 pounds I’d be at my target weight for age and height. I like that it tells me exactly what I can add and in what portions. I can add a yogurt to my breakfast and a tablespoon of vinaigrette to my salad. Little things make all the difference.
Hey Toni, I get where you’re coming from and I say sure, go ahead and eat vegetables. They are super low in calories but high in nutrients that help the weight loss process. That’s as long as they are fresh (eaten raw is even better) and not out of a can or a packet!
Thanks so much for sharing your story. It was encouraging and helpful. I am only on my second day of Lean 13 and after comparing the Turbo Shakes with the protein powder I was using before, I noticed that mine was lower in calories, fat, sugar, and carbs and higher in protein by quite a lot. I like to have a protein shake for breakfast each morning which means I’d have to purchase it from Nutrisystem on top of my regular order since I only have enough for two weeks this time around. Is there something special about their protein powder that would make it a bad choice to use my own once I’ve gone through the Turbo Shakes I already have.. Just curious what you’d suggest. Thanks again for your review! ~Peggy
Leave a comment…Rita, Walmart has a few different 5-day plans. Get the one which states it has 5 breakfasts, lunches and dinners. You always are going to have to add a small variety of regular food items to your weekly diet.
It was nice to not have to worry about food too much, though it was annoying to have to stay stocked up on veggies and such. Overall, the meals and even desserts were pretty good, and it’s good that they get you eating several small meals a day. It’s something I picked back up again in the past year — and it’s done wonders for my blood sugar and how much I eat.
I am in my third month of ordering from NutriSystem,” wrote Cate of St. Louis. “I order online and pay extra for the privilege of ordering the meals I want rather than doing the automatic ship where they choose the meals. For two of the three months I have ordered, they have shipped me substituted items, and I quote here from the letter that arrives with my order:
The Nutrisystem Silver plan has been the best decision I ever made for myself. When I was 14 I gained a bit of weight, and after 4 children and 40 years, I put on even more. I always thought I was healthy until I had a heart attack. A better diet and exercise is what I was told I needed. So I bought the Nutrisystem 7 day plan after I seen it on television in the hospital.
To be honest, considering that this is supposed to be a diet and diet foods are generally healthy foods, I was shocked at how edible most foods were. For our readers who really couldn’t handle NutriSystem foods, all I can say is, good luck dieting.
My roommates and I just started Nutrisystem. I want to lose 20 lbs. They need to lose 40. I’d just crossed the threshold into overweight, and wanted to get back down to where my pants fit instead of going out and buying a new wardrobe (Its actually cheaper to do Nutrisystem). We just finished the Fast5. My roommates dropped 2.5 pounds after 3 days. I actually gained a pound after three days (but I’m blaming hormones and mother nature). But, sure enough, after the week was over I’d lost 6 pounds! You have to fill in the gaps between meals with healthy vegetable snacks, and you have to get used to being hungry. Nutrisystem is down the big portioned meals we are all used to, so your stomach at first is really confused and wanting to be full. It takes will power not to eat when you are feeling hungry, but if you are, just snack on something like carrots. It really gets you used to eating smaller meals, and eating more vegetables. We’ve also started going to the gym 2-3 times a week.
The New England Journal of Medicine concluded in 2013 that a portion-controlled and calorie-restricted diet is pretty tried and true. And while it does not comment specifically on Nutrisystem, the point is made.
