The other really great thing about this plan is the Restaurant Guide. I have to go out to lunch a lot with my clients, so having the Restaurant Guide at my disposal is extremely helpful because I can still take my clients out to lunch without worrying that I’m going off of my diet plan.

The following is a blog documenting two Los Angeles Times editors’ attempts to lose weight. It all began on Jan. 10 . Temptation. Schmemptation. Sure, I’m feeling a little cocky. The events over the last two days have left me feeling Mark Wahlberg in “Invincible” tough. That doesn’t mean I’m going to wear a mesh tank top to work or anything. At least not today. But come casual Friday, watch out. Why the feelings of invincibility? Just like Wahlberg’s character I overcame terrific odds to win an epic battle.
There are more than 150 food items you can choose from. More than 120 of these meals are currently low sodium and contain no preservatives and no trans fats. Examples of food options that fit into the diet plan include their cinnamon rolls, chicken parmesan, and cheese tortellini.
My first three months i did little to no exercising. Still lost weight. For about two and a half weeks I’ve been exercising 1hr to 1hr and 1/2 a day, 5 to 4 days a week. I usually run on the elliptical and do around 6 miles.

I was a bit embarrassed as I walked through the store carrying a box of Nutrisystem. I sure didn’t feel like Marie Osmond as I was hiding behind sweat pants and an oversized shirt. I felt like people were staring as I left the store. “Will Nutrisystem really work”, I thought, and tossed the box in the back seat of the car and headed home.
Vegetarians and vegans: Vegetarians on the 5 & 1 Plan should avoid high-carb legumes (peas, beans, and lentils) until reaching their goal weight. The plan is trickier for vegans, since many of the meal replacements are made with dairy or eggs.
Hey Megan, I printed it (like I do all of them)! You’re doing just great and as long as you stick with the plan and keep up an average 2lb per week from now on, you should see better than 25lbs lost after another 9 weeks you’re giving yourself. But don’t stress over things if that fluctuates as it can do. Just focus on the goal and stay positive!
These perks of the program, coupled with television advertising, earned NutriSystem, which pulled out of bankruptcy in 1994, a spot on Fortune Magazine’s list of 100 fastest growing companies in 2008 [sources: Fortune, New York Times].
I exercise and use the trackers online to help me lose weight and stay on track. I go back and read the diary to see what the harder days were like so that I can find ways to make them easier. There are no meetings to get embarrassed at, and everything is delivered to my house so no one knows I am dieting at all.
The Atkins diet web site states the current plan “is about eating delicious and healthy foods, which makes it so much better than any of those fad diets out there. You eat a variety of your favorite foods — lean protein, leafy greens, vegetables, nuts, fruits, whole grains. Plus, you get delicious Atkins bars and shakes from day one and every step of the way.”
The good thing about Weight Watchers is that it’s flexible — you can eat pretty much whatever you want. But not much of it. Most experts agree that it works, but you have to pay attention and follow the guidelines.
For so many years, I’ve tried to lose 20 pounds. Sometimes I’ve tried to do it with exercise, other times I’ve tried to do it by not eating. I’ve finally realized that the experts are right; the only way to really lose weight is with both diet and exercise.
I also love that I can still go out to eat and stay on the plan. The Restaurant Guide keeps me on track for my weight loss goals without having to miss out of the social aspect of going out to eat with my friends. Nutrisystem is my long-term solution for losing weight.
I wish I could say the food is good, like they do on television, but I have to say, the food, well, tastes like any food you buy in a box that has to be microwaved, except you get a lot less of it to eat. I am used to home cooked food. This stuff makes me crave home cooked food and I know that is not good. I got a hamburger patty too, and I am reluctant to bother with it. I certainly don’t relish the idea of soaking my burger first before I eat it. Yuck. The commercials all say the food is great and you’re never hungry, that simply isn’t true. Getting used to tiny portions of processed food is never going to be easy..what makes it hard for me is I have a family that I have to cook for. I am still searching for the one entree for either lunch or dinner that I love. None of the breakfast options are really that great, instant oatmeal, little bowls of cereal, breakfast bars..nothing special. Sigh…but I’ll eat it because I paid for it, will I buy more? Hmm…I am pondering the idea of simply going with portion control, because If I ate my own food in these small amounts, I’d still lose weight. Especially now that I have the cookbook/guide that goes with this plan.
