“Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig which is best”

I was on the Nutrisystem men’s basic plan. I ate good food every day. Foods such as blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, honey mustard pretzel sticks, beef stew and broiled beef patties. Nutrisystem truly does go to great lengths to help make losing weight easy.

My mom did the Nutrisystem diet back in the late 80s, after giving birth to me a few years prior, and lost all of her baby weight. She did it for 3 months. She told me that the first month was “okay” but that by the end of her 2nd month, she had lost almost all of her baby weight but also had so much more energy, which gave her the motivation to start running again. I wish I could post a screen cap of her text saying this so people would know it’s real lol. By the end of her 3rd month, she said she had lost ALL of her baby weight plus a few more pounds. She recommended it to me when I started talking about wanting to lose some weight, so we both decided to do it. She’s been on it for a month and has lost 8 lbs. I’ve been on it for 3 weeks (I started a week later so my bf and I could start together— I convinced him after I had already ordered with her), and I’ve lost 6 lbs. I am 28 years old, 5’4” and was 127 lbs when I started. This may not sound big at ALL to a lot of you, but trust me, if I wore a tight shirt (and let’s be honest, I’m 28 so I want to)… the love handles were all I could see in the mirror. I have a VERY short upper torso so adding just a few tiny extra pounds shows up fast on me. :/ I don’t consider myself fat by ANY means in the slightest. But I don’t see any problem with wanting to look better as long as I’m doing it in a healthy manner…. which am. I’ve been exercising and eating all the meals the way they tell you to, and I now weigh 121ish and feel awesome in both my work clothes and going-out clothes. An inch off my waist and a few less pounds is all I really needed and that’s exactly what I got. I don’t need to lose too much more weight so if the weight loss starts declining a little bit, for ME, that’s actually a good thing. Obviously, for some others, I can see why they might get frustrated. This diet isn’t for everyone, but that’s no reason to rag on it. Prior to considering nutrisystem at all, my boyfriend and I always complained about picky eaters in our office who literally always find something bad to say about even normal *RESTAURANTS*. We’re talking like… Luby’s, Chili’s, McDonalds…. They’d say things like “UGH… the mashed potatoes are always so bland” (then why do you continue to order from there?), “The breading on these chicken strips are soggy” (yeah, you picked it up 20 minutes ago and have been on the phone for another 5 before you started eating so they’ve just been sitting).. “This burger is too greasy” (It’s fast food…. ARE YOU KIDDING??). We, however, I guess are not picky whatsoever because we NEVER feel this way even when we can see what they mean. It doesn’t actually affect our ability to judge it as a whole. Okay… well, sorry for making this into a long story but… I can clearly see that this is exactly what’s happening with the food from nutrisystem. Every single person who complains about the food sounds IDENTICAL to each other. They might as well all be the same person writing a different review. Just listen to how they talk. Just… high maintenance, stuck up, picky eaters. Yes, the food from nutrisystem is more bland than a steak dinner from Outback (oh dear GOD, i bet some of you are already thinking about how “terrible” Outback is instead of understanding my point)….. but it baffles me that these people actually expect hand-delivered, hot, fresh gourmet meals. And to those of you who say “No i’m not expecting gourmet, but I wouldn’t even feed this to my dog”… YOU ARE A SELFISH, UNAPPRECIATIVE ***hole. I know what point you’re trying to make, but these foods are not THAT bad to where a dang dog who eats his own throw up wouldn’t eat it. Not even close, you overly picky eater. And nonetheless, there are starving people out there who would take a frozen salisbury steak without complaining. And these people aren’t even TRYING to diet. …..A point that should be more than taken into consideration! No one on this green earth should expect to start a diet and expect the food to even remotely compare to what they’d eat if they WEREN’T DIETING. I was eating Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and french fries before this diet, so yeah… I felt the change in taste! DUH. But if I cared more about the taste of food than losing the weight (which thousands and thousands of people have said they’ve lost the weight), then I’d still be unhappy with my weight! It’s not SO bad to where I can’t endure it for a better cause, which is looking and feeling better. I will stay on nutrisystem for my 2nd month and see what happens after that. So sorry for this being so long but I had to say something because reading all the comments from complainers was the most aggravating thing I’ve seen in months.

For help identifying in which category your favorite foods belong, check out the Nutrisystem Grocery Guide. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, give one of our counselors a call at 1-800-585-5483 between the hours of 7 a.m. and midnight—they’re standing by to help!

I have tried a lot of weight loss programs, and what I realizing is that this is the best one I’ve found. I am a little surprised as to how hard it is not stick to the food, but I know that is my own struggle with willpower, and I also know that particular struggle will get better as the time progresses. I’m happy with the plan, and I think it is definitely worth the investment of money because I can tell it is really going to help me lose the weight that I need to lose.

I’ve only done the first week and I’ve already dropped…wait for it…13 pounds. Now I’m a big guy, with a lot of weight to lose, but 13 pounds in one week? I’ll take it! They only said I’d lose up to 10 the first month….not bad at all.

I really appreciate the depth of information you provide here and I noticed you changed the ads and some of the info from Fast 5 to Turbo 10 since I last looked in. That looks real interesting but you know I will stick with my plan because it works for me and that’s all I need. Good luck and best wishes to all the others who are on this diet program!

VERY correct ! the food is so nasty the meals are sick! i couldnt stand eating them i did loose weight though but i think it was because i wouldnt even finish my meals! and they charge a 52 dollars just to send it back and u have to pay for shipping its horrrible!

Its good for portion control. I am starting my 2nd month and I haven’t exercised but lost 6lbs. If I would exercise the benefit would be much better. If you supplement your meals with Steam fresh vege’s and brown rice with your dinner it really fills you up. Good luck.

We will have a member from our team reach out regarding your concern with the FLEX meals and pricing. They will be happy to go into more detail the FLEX outline and exactly what comes with the program.

I tried NS recently and foolishly missed where, in the fine print, they say you have to commit for at least 2 months – that’s a commitment of about $700. I lost no weight and stopped having bowel movements. My options were a) pay a $100 cancellation fee for quitting before the 2 months b) pay $150 for a lunch and snack plan to “spare” me the fee or c) just accept the next $350 shipment of food and spend another month not using the bathroom. Thankfully the CS rep waived the fee for me due to the health issue (which I had previously reported) but the whole experience left me feeling icky. I’m not a fan of companies who not only HAVE high, arbitrary cancellation fees (why do I have to stay for 2 months if I hate it after 1?), but who also feel they need to place any mention of them at the bottom of the page in “fine print” so small you can just barely read it. Like what’s your deal, what’s up with that?

To get it in the right perspective, all you need to do is look at the total price you’re paying for the diet. Then deduct from that what you’d normally spend on the total amount of food you would eat for 28 days.

There is a breakdown of the prices for Nutrisystem Lean 13 on the official website. It is broken down per day, so you get an idea of what you will spend on food on a daily basis. Note that the men’s plans are pricier than the women’s because there is a bit more food involved. Here is a better look at your Lean13 plan options.

Diet plans such as these can work just like any other diet. As long as you’re burning more calories than you’re eating, the weight will come off. All Nutrisystem does is make it easier for you to eat less.

Here’s something I think everyone should know before they get into a nutria system plan. I’m on my second week and here is what I’ve figured out. They only give you about 65% of the food you will be eating. So after paying the $300 plus you still have to buy 4 servings of vegetables every day. Buy food to supplement 2 of their meals and one snack every day. Oh and supply the food for 2 flex meals each week. So if you have the time and know how to make healthy meals and portions I’d suggest just buying the ingredients yourself and making your own meals. You will save a good amount of money. I’m only going to do this one month I’ve already received because I’m fairly certain I can save between $150-$250 dollars doing it myself next month. Pus the food will taste better.

A very informative Grocery Guide that makes it easy to make smart choices while roaming the aisles. In addition to listing the kinds of foods that can safely be included in your meal plan, this guide helps to educate you about what makes some foods healthy and others not so healthy.

The most basic meal package is $9.64 per day, or $269.99 for a 4-week package. With this plan, customers are given a variety of food selected by Nutrisystem with the potential of losing 10 pounds and 5-inches off the waist in one month.

What I expect to get from this is some help. I am hoping that 3-4 months on Nutrisystem will help me gain some idea of portion control so that I can do it myself. I am hoping that I can lose enough weight that exercise doesn’t make me feel like I’m having a heart attack after 2 minutes. I don’t intend to stay on this forever. I just want an effective kick start to motivate me enough to do it myself.

Hi Joanne – sorry to hear you haven’t had the results you expected. When the plan is followed correctly you should definitely lose more than 3 pounds over the course of three weeks – I’ve never loss less than 5 during my first week on the Turbo 10 – and in my experience the Nutrisystem counselors have been extremely helpful, so I’m pretty surprised by your comment. In any case, hope the rest of your month goes well, and best of luck moving forward.

The “core” four-week plan, which includes either a prepicked selection of popular foods or your choice of more than 100 foods, plus shipping, starts at $10.54 each day. You can pay a few bucks more each day if you want more selection or extra TurboShakes. Remember: You’ve still got a monthly grocery bill to add to that. Your tab will vary depending on what produce you buy (go for anything in-season) and your protein choices (chicken and turkey are generally pretty affordable).

It works… it about portion control, regarding taste, try to be creative I always add garlic, onions (from the pan) tomatoes even a touch of pesto to give the food some love etc. Simply if you have the desire to you can. The 1st week is the toughest, because you are breaking a habit, but will show great results if you stick with it.

Not conclusive. After 30 years in the business, NutriSystem can’t point to a single clinical trial to demonstrate that this diet works. The book and Web site do offer anecdotal success stories, but the long-term effects of eating premeasured, prepackaged foods are unknown.

Nutrisystem is different than the other programs out there before they make it simple.  You just follow their plan and eat their food along with some additional add-ins that you purchase at the grocery store and watch the weight come flying off.  On Nutrisystem you are eating several times a day.  You don’t feel hungry. You don’t feel deprived.

I always thought, if I ever became rich and had the money to spare, I’d try out one of these food delivery systems in a heartbeat. Like Lynda, I love that everything is planned out already…there is no calorie counting or anything involved. Plus no cooking is involved, so it’s perfect for people with busy lifestyles. It seems like it would be easier to stick to a plan if all you can eat is already provided for you. To make it easier to follow, I wouldn’t keep any other food in the house except for the fruits and vegetables needed to supplement the food provided.

The cost of food for 28 days depends on the particular Nutrisystem program. For the Basic Plan, food is preselected and costs between $240 and $300 per month. That’s between $8.90 and $11.04 per day. Prices increase with the Core and Uniquely Yours plans, which offer 100 and 150 more food options that can be chosen. Food is delivered frozen and ready for reheating.

As I’ve shared in detail over the past several years, I’ve always struggled with my weight, even as a child. Although I was extremely active growing up, playing three sports, I always had a problem with weight. Having just turned 40 I knew if I didn’t make a change it likely wasn’t going to ever happen.

Each Nutrisystem promo code and Nutrisystem coupon puts you on track to lose weight with affordable, time-tested diet plans that can potentially melt away as many as 1–2 pounds each week. The plan works by refocusing eating habits around healthy, home-delivered portion-controlled meals that contain balanced proportions of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. The plans contain limited levels of sugar and sodium to help ensure that subscribers get essential nutrients without consuming unhealthy additives or experiencing spikes in their blood sugar. Although Nutrisystem’s nutritionists offer predetermined meal plans designed for men or women, subscribers can also answer a few quick questions to create a personalized diet plan tailored to their specific metabolism. Whether you choose a predetermined plan or a customized menu, don’t forget to browse Nutrisystem coupons and discounts, found here at Groupon Coupons, for additional savings on your healthy new diet.

I also love that I can still go out to eat and stay on the plan. The Restaurant Guide keeps me on track for my weight loss goals without having to miss out of the social aspect of going out to eat with my friends. Nutrisystem is my long-term solution for losing weight.

I was commonly asked what you can eat while on Nutrisystem. When you’re on the Nutrisystem meal plan you get your three meals plus two snacks per day. They allow you supplement that with a variety of items.
