“Nutrisystem models commercial”

Hey Marilyn, it’s great to hear from you that you’re off to such a great start. I agree that adding spices and herbs to the meals can improve the taste and tailor it to what you like to taste even! And yes, yes, yes… when you have the support of the person you live with, it truly is easier to succeed on this diet (and indeed anything you put both your minds to)!

The Basic Plan is Nutrisystem’s most cost-effective offering and is a good way to get started if you’re brand new to the program, or your budget is tight. For less than $10 you can get most of your meals for the day, and that also includes their Turbo Takeoff kit to help you get the most from the program.

The basic plan is extremely easy to follow. It comes with specific instructions on how to follow it. It also comes with some great dieting tools. The best part of the plan is that it comes with healthy foods that are already prepared for me to eat.

Beware, you cannot quit Nutrisystem without a lot of hassle. I tried to quit their autodelivery program online and wasn’t allowed to. I was given a phone number to call. I got passed around a couple times until I got to the guy that tries to talk you into staying. So on 12/8/2016 I told him I wanted to quit, I didn’t want anymore deliveries and to remove my credit card information from their system. I told him when I signed up I used a fake number because I didn’t want any calls but yet my home phone is being blown up by you guys. I gave him both those numbers and told him to be 100% sure I wouldn’t get anymore delivers to my name or my address. He guarantee’d I would not. Even gave me a confirmation number: 179550527. On the 11th I get an email saying my order is ready to ship soon. I contacted Nutrisystem right away and they said it’s too late, it already shipped. I have several emails to them explaining all of the above plus spoke to a really rude pushy lady on the phone. They say they can’t take it back and will not refund my $375. Then they tried to accuse me of making a 2nd account in November and their representative only cancelled 1 account. I never created any 2nd account, I only updated my credit card information (which I regret). The only thing that should matter anyway is my name and address and the guarantee I was given that all orders were cancelled. Their only response is to fight it with my credit company. I have done that and the charges were reversed. However I want all of you to know what kind of people you are dealing with. The left doesn’t know what the right is doing in this company and their customer service doesn’t even deserve 1 star.

While doing the Turbo 10 can I have vegetables and protein when I’m getting hungry? I have been trying to stick whole-heartedly to the Turbo 10 but I have slipped up and had a hard boiled egg (considered “powerfuel”) and a half a cup of edamame (vegetable).

Many people commented on how much they enjoyed the wide range of food and drinks that are available from Nutrisystem. Our research verified this feedback, we can confidently say that Nutrisystem has one of the largest menus out of any diet plan we have come across.

The real issue was with the lunch and dinner items. Aside from the portions, which were laughably small (and this is coming from someone who is not obese, just needed to lose a few pounds… I just can’t imagine anyone 200 pounds or above not passing out from a “lunch” that consists of a tiny can of soup (120 calories and literally 6 spoonfuls…), there is also the issue of taste. NutriSystem lunches were either salty or tasteless. There was hardly any other taste. But generally the lunch items were still less offensive than the dinner “dishes.”

So far, my favorite is the mushroom risotto, the chicken with dumplings, and the chili with beans, the flame broiled beef patty, the barbecue sauce pork wrap, the chocolate chocolate chip pudding, the chocolate crunch bar, the chocolate chip cookie, the creamy tomato sauce, the blueberry pancakes and the blueberry muffins. I could go on and on about the rest of Nutrisystem’s dishes but I’m making myself hungry 😉 I enjoy eating all of Nutrisystem’s foods. I do not think I have found a food that I did not like yet.

I think the reason that I’ve done so well on Nutrisystem is because I really like the food.  In the past, I always stayed away from things like muffins, granola bars, and pasta because I figured it would be too many calories. But then, after passing up on those things, I’d purge on junk food later. With Nutrisystem, I can have ravioli for dinner and feel like I had a real treat.  I think because I don’t feel like I am depriving myself of the food I really want to eat, I’m able to stick to the Nutrisystem meals and not splurge on junk food. I feel like the Nutrisystem meals are a splurge enough!

Remember, these are just a few of the meals and snacks you’ll have to choose from, and the menu is actually a lot more extensive. I just listed a few of my favorites, so be sure to check out the official Nutrisystem website to view the entire menu.

I want to add for other people reading this that everyone will lose weight at their own pace and some will lose it faster than others. If you’re not overweight and try to diet to lose some, you probably should not expect to lose much.

Experts like the University of Chicago Medical Center’s director of preventative cardiology, Dr. Michael Davidson, say that Nutrisystem is not a diet that will help you prevent or manage heart disease. Following the plan can be prohibitively expensive for some dieters, and eating out at restaurants or social gatherings can be almost impossible. If your family members aren’t also on Nutrisystem, it can be tough to prepare food for them that you’re not allowed to eat. There are no kosher, vegan or gluten-free plans available. Although exercise is encouraged, Diet.com reports that critics of Nutrisystem caution that by not emphasizing physical activity more, the plan does not set followers up for long-term, sustainable weight loss.

That’s a good suggestion for Mary. Lack of weight loss when on a calorie controlled diet is often attributed to a slowdown of metabolism to match the lower calorie count. It is commonly remedied by taking more exercise each day. The blood type diet is an interesting one that has some merit and is also worth looking at.

I had high hopes for this kit and was ready to begin to lose weight. After all the advertisements on TV, I was sure this was the ticket for weight loss but wanted to try the kit before ordering $262/month of food. The breakfast and lunch items are pretty good but the dinners are just plain awful. I understand this is packaged food and do not expect it to taste homemade. However, they should taste somewhat good. Glad I tried and did lose weight but I will not continue with their monthly plan as cannot see paying for a meal I cannot eat. The Lasagna, Chicken Alfredo and Rotini are gross even when I tried to add seasoning or cheese! Terrible!! I would recommend trying the kit first if you are considering the monthly plan and then you can determine if you want to continue once you sample their meals.

I liked the ease of the meals and not having to go to the grocery store which is a land mine of pizza, ice cream, danish, etc. I’m trying to figure out how to order without the chocolate items. I know that on QVC I can order just lunches, dinners or breakfasts without other meals.

When you control your calorie intake and your portions, you are on a good path to losing weight. Add the fact that your meals will likely be healthier than what you eat regularly and you implement an exercise regimen to burn even more calories, and the result should be that you attain your weight loss goals. If you can stick to the plan accordingly and only eat what is suggested through your prepared meals and allowed produce, research that has been done to support the success of the plan suggests that you will lose weight.

The food is decent, not my home cooking, but it is still quite good. My favorite is the lasagna and the cinnamon buns. They are not only filling, but have a great taste, and takes care of the carb and sugar cravings I get. I have been using the Nutrisystem Silver plan now for over a month and have lost 31 pounds. Guess that just goes to show how unhealthy I was eating before. I don’t eat when I am tired or bored now, only when I am supposed to eat. And I am never hungry anymore; I’m always full and very satisfied. I’m trying to talk my husband into doing the plan too, he could stand to lose a few.

I DID follow the NS Uniquely Yours plan nearly to the letter and boy did it pay off. Turbo week I lost 7 pounds. I did not feel great or energetic but I gutted it out without a single cheat! Huge victory for my undisciplined self. I did not consume every single veggie allotted but I came close. Four cups of veggies a day is a lot. I really craved some comfort food and some of the meals in the Turbo kit I will never order again. The shakes and Nutricrush bars were fine. The meal portions were pretty shocking but surprisingly satisfying with all the protein inserted into the meals and detox from my usual sugar rollercoaster. I did experience some headaches probably from the reduction in sugar similar to a caffeine withdrawal. One indulgence I cannot live without is my one strong morning coffee and creamer, so I guess I did cheat with 1 Tbs. (30cal) sweetened full fat creamer daily.

2. Tastes good. I can’t understand the bad reviews about the food. I hate high sodium, processed food. The food in this program tastes pretty good, not great homemade, but does not taste overly processed to me. I cook homemade meals (largely organic, fresh) almost every night for my family, so I am not a processed food eater usually, and I like the food. Admittedly, I am not a great cook, so most of the meals I make are pretty simple and not perfectly cooked or flavored. Maybe the food on this program is better tasting than my usual fare? I don’t know, but I found it easy to prepare a meal for my family and yet eat my own food because it tastes so good.

In 2017, Nutrisystem successfully tested the Lean 13 Program, a diet plan for even better results than the previous flagship of the company, the Turbo 10 program. Lean 13 delivers what the title says: up to 13 pounds of weight loss and 7 inches of “waist loss” within the first month of starting the program. Lean 13 is a dietitian approved mix of high protein and low carbohydrate foods that can help you to retain muscle mass while reducing your fat intake. Nutrisystem says they has experimented behind the scenes with different combinations of meals to optimize this plan. All of the meal choices within Lean 13 correspond with the top findings in the experiments, claims the company. On Lean 13, Nutrisystem claims that you  get meals and snacks to ensure that you never go hungry. NutriCrush® bars and TurboShakes™ are meant to support your digestive health with good probiotic bacteria, reduce belly bloat, and create an even more effective, tasty weight loss program. Aside from the special snacks and meals, you also get comprehensive support from weight loss coaches, certified diabetes educators and registered dietitians seven days a week.

I agree the dry food isn’t all that good and I’ve have off the charts pain in my abdomen after eating it. (Has anyone else had this problem?) I’ve had no problems with the frozen food. It tastes better, too. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I read all the reviews and decided to give Nutrisystem a chance. Turns out that its true…the Nutrisystem program is a meal plan that does help you lose weight. The plan is extremely easy to follow and I have found it to be cheaper than buying food at the grocery store. I mainly shop at Whole Foods (aka Whole Paycheck) though.

A study titled “Efficacy of commercial weight loss programs: an updated systematic review” looked into Nutrisystem’s capabilities. It reported that “Nutrisystem participants achieved at least 3.8% greater weight loss at 3 months than control/education or counseling.” [8]

After a failed attempt to diet on my own, I went back to Nutrisystem a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised that the food is MUCH better than it was back then. It even comes with 10 days (out of 30) of frozen meals that are every bit as good as Lean Cuisine.

The Mindset Makeover was developed by one of the leading psychologists in the weight loss field, Gary Foster, Ph.D. It is designed to “help people learn new behaviors when it comes to weight loss and related lifestyle issues.” This behavior piece is essential but very rare in most diets. You are given access to this and an online account with community support as part of each of the programs.

The exercise is easy for me, sticking to the diet is sometimes hard. When my kids bring over cookies and pastries, it is hard to say no. So I will go find the Nutrisystem chocolate chip cookies or the double chocolate almond cookies and be fine.

Uniquely Yours is Nutrisystem’s premium plan and is by far the best option if you can afford the few extra dollars month. It features more than 150 different foods on the menu and gives you full access to Nutrisystem’s Frozen foods. The frozen meals are a notch above the rest of the menu, especially when it comes to dessert – you get to eat ice cream, which is an awesome bonus!

The eating part of the plan is pretty easy to grasp. All plans provide four weeks’ worth of food. The first week of each plan is made up of Turbo10, a special one-week ultra low calorie plan that allows you to drop up to 10 pounds and up to five inches right away. Since it isn’t healthy to keep losing weight at that rate, all subsequent weeks consist of either a favorites pack or a custom menu that you build yourself.

The sooner you get started the sooner you can be at your goal.  Nutrisystem truly works.  I do not work for them but I do like to help others who are obese like I was become a healthy weight like I did.

Hi Dr Cook, I read this review a month ago and signed up for the core womens plan. I can’t thank you enough for pointing me at Nutrisystem! I have already lost 14 pounds and ordered my second month. The food is much better than I expected from hearing some of the very negative commenters said about it. I felt a bit hungry the first few days, but I told myself it was my body telling me it was using up excess fat to make me smaller and lighter. And it really was! After those first few days, I had no hunger issues at all and felt great. Better than great – I have so much energy now that I never had before.

The Company offers safe, effective and scientifically-backed weight-loss plans, with a distinguished Science Advisory Board and strong clinical studies. All plans include comprehensive support and counseling options from trained weight-loss coaches, registered dietitians and certified diabetes educators available seven days a week from the Company’s award-winning contact center, as well as free digital apps that complement each plan. For customers transitioning to maintenance there is the Nutrisystem® Success® plan. Nutrisystem also has select products available at retail.

Reviewer “Angela” said she decided to order one kit, check it out and if it worked, she’d sign up on the Nutrisystem website. “I ended up losing 11.1 pounds in the first month using various boxes purchased at Walmart and without excercise.[sic] I just signed up for nutrisystem on their website a little over a week ago and received my first month of food a few days later. Good luck if you decide to try this. So far it has worked for me!” [11]

  1. As a side note, my fiancé who is obese also did NS with me and he lost 20 lbs in the first two months and none in the third month. His job is physically strenuous and he also exercised regularly. He experienced lightheadedness the first two weeks and had horrible stomach problems pretty much the entire time we were on it. For me, the stomach thing was just the first two weeks. When we were getting our initial positive results, we recommended it to his mom and she tried it and had the same stomach problems the first two weeks as well. She lost 15 lbs with NS and exercise but gained it back right after getting off NS.
The only thing I liked about it was that it made me realize what a TINY AMOUNT of food a portion size really is. It’s shockingly small. Which seems crappy because you’re paying through the nose for it and they’re giving you so little.
