“I’m pleased with the reimagined South Beach Diet as a home-delivered weight-loss plan, and delighted that it’s continuing to help people achieve optimal health in a heart-healthy way,” said Dr. Arthur Agatston, the world-renowned cardiologist, and creator of “The South Beach Diet,” which became a runaway bestseller with more than 23 million copies in print and multiple titles appearing on the New York Times bestseller list.
I started th NS diet this week. I am 4 days in. After 3 days as of this AM, I have lost 3#. I purchased mine at Walmart. I love the fact, I don’t have to think about my main dish. All I need to make sure that I have enough fresh veggies and fruit. I am getting used to fatfree salad dressing. I am getting creative on my veggie dishes. So far my food has been very tasty. You have to really want to loose the weight and not make feeble excuses like not at least giving the food a fair try.I would say ,if you are not losing on this, you aren’t following the program right. Good luck all!
Thanks so much for sharing your story. It was encouraging and helpful. I am only on my second day of Lean 13 and after comparing the Turbo Shakes with the protein powder I was using before, I noticed that mine was lower in calories, fat, sugar, and carbs and higher in protein by quite a lot. I like to have a protein shake for breakfast each morning which means I’d have to purchase it from Nutrisystem on top of my regular order since I only have enough for two weeks this time around. Is there something special about their protein powder that would make it a bad choice to use my own once I’ve gone through the Turbo Shakes I already have.. Just curious what you’d suggest. Thanks again for your review! ~Peggy
I am verry disapoint with the food…The pastas are very mushy, tasteless and have a lot of vinigar in them…The regular food taste like overprossed can food…You have to look hard for the meat if you are good you may find 2 or 3 small diced pieces…you said that you have frozen food and I have not been able to find it on your web site…your food is lacking a whole lot of something.
With Nutrisystem I just grab my food for the day on the way out the door. I have it with me so I don’t have to spend any money in the vending machines. I don’t have to order lunch. I don’t have to go through the drive thru. I have everything I need to stay full and satisfy my hunger throughout the day. The truth is that Nutrisystem is actually less money then I spent on food before I began the program.
The following is a blog documenting two Los Angeles Times editors’ attempts to lose weight. It all began on Jan. 10 . My weight-loss partner, Tony, is turning into Elvis Presley. Well, he’s going to Vegas. And he’ll probably have a few dozen grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches. You can see it a mile away. He just quit something called the Cookie Diet (after being on it for about 10 days), ate an entire box of chocolates yesterday and is now heading to Las Vegas for a long weekend.

The food, especially the lasagna, is fantastic! The portions are great, and you can add other things in to each meal if you want to. The first month I only lost 7 pounds, but that was enough to get me hooked. I have since lost 61 pounds total, and am staying on the Nutrisystem diet to help me keep the weight off. I still use the online tools, still use the menu planner and still watch what I eat at restaurants. The food keeps coming, and I will keep using it to stay in shape. My blood pressure is now down where it should be, and my back doesn’t hurt anymore from the additional weight. I love this plan!
Taste: Nutrisystem products should be palatable for most. A 2011 Consumer Reports taste test that pitted Nutrisystem’s packaged meals against those of its rival, Jenny Craig, deemed Jenny the winner by a slight margin. While Jenny’s meals were slightly tastier, Nutrisystem’s fare was rated “good” overall. (A side test of frozen Nutrisystem entrees did much better than pantry ones, according to the review.) A company survey of 3,500 customers conducted in 2010 found that nine out of every 10 were happy with the quality and taste of their food. In 2014, Nutrisystem introduced 40 new items and reformulated another 32 products to remove artificial flavors and sweeteners. It also phased out 19 products based on customer feedback. It now has almost no artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors.
I am on day 11 of the nutrisystem diet, I started with a 5 day kit that came from Walmart and bought my fruit and veggies plus a ninja smoothie blender all at the exact same time. I was totally equipped to do this all right. I have already lost 6 pounds (24 to go). Since then I purchased another 5 day kit for use while waiting for my a la cart order to arrive from nutrisystem of frozen food. I found that after just the first bite or two the food does taste better and adding seasoning helps too. For me, the best thing is after cooking for my husband of 30 years- I no longer have to cook! I can pick out my meal and never worry about what my husband will eat. I actually believe the sodium is lower on this plan as I tend to gravitate to salty foods. By adding fruits and veggies then putting a little effort does make this more enjoyable and I feel more satisfied. I really want to lose weight more than I dislike eating the food and also I’m feeling real good and noticing I have more energy.
The TV ads, filled with celebrity endorsers and regular people holding out their enormous “old jeans” make the diet plans sound terribly tempting. Although a new FTC rule now requires testimonial ads to cite typical results, the looming question still remains: Which of these diet programs are worth your money?
Why not? Well, Nutrisystem sends almost all foods directly to your doorstep. You don’t need to do anything to prepare those foods. You don’t have to learn how to shop for healthier foods at the grocery store, nor do you need to learn how to cook healthier at home.
The core plan includes all this, but more food choices. You’ll also get plenty of perks available through Nutrisystem, including access to dieticians, counselors, trackers, and other valuable resources. This plan starts at $10.54 per day, and costs $294.99 with auto-delivery for women, and $334.99 for men. The custom version of this package costs the same.
Since starting the diet, I’ve lost 20 pounds and have started feeling good about my body again, which has helped my love life significantly. My girlfriend can’t keep her hands off of my new slimmer waist 😉 She is so proud of me and she thinks I look great. Who would have thought I could eat healthy food that I do not have to prepare that I actually like? Nutrisystem rocks!
Today is my 7th day on the diet (first 5+ week). I’m supposed to lose 5+ guaranteed! But I have only lost 2.4 lbs!!! I will give it a couple more days. If I don’t lose any more. I will return all their food and want my money back. I hope they don’t give me a hard time for that.
In 2017, Nutrisystem successfully tested the Lean 13 Program, a diet plan for even better results than the previous flagship of the company, the Turbo 10 program. Lean 13 delivers what the title says: up to 13 pounds of weight loss and 7 inches of “waist loss” within the first month of starting the program. Lean 13 is a dietitian approved mix of high protein and low carbohydrate foods that can help you to retain muscle mass while reducing your fat intake. Nutrisystem says they has experimented behind the scenes with different combinations of meals to optimize this plan. All of the meal choices within Lean 13 correspond with the top findings in the experiments, claims the company. On Lean 13, Nutrisystem claims that you get meals and snacks to ensure that you never go hungry. NutriCrush® bars and TurboShakes™ are meant to support your digestive health with good probiotic bacteria, reduce belly bloat, and create an even more effective, tasty weight loss program. Aside from the special snacks and meals, you also get comprehensive support from weight loss coaches, certified diabetes educators and registered dietitians seven days a week.
If you have ten pounds or more that you need to lose, they have a ready-made plan for you. If you have less than ten to drop, then you can customize a menu that will still help you meet your goals. Either way, you will be able to find a plan that fits your budget, matches your weight loss goals, and meets your dietary and nutritional needs.
You have the most options in this higher-end plan. Currently priced at $11.96 per day, this plan is perfect for those wanting more control and a variety of options in their diet. You can choose from over 150 foods, including delicious frozen options. Just reading the reviews will allow you to see just how simple this plan is and also how great it works, especially for those with a busy, active lifestyle.
The specialist Uniquely Yours plans provide you with a large collection of high quality fresh frozen meals to choose from. All the above plans are specially tailored to the needs of each group as we all have slightly different nutritional requirements.
During this trial, I have learned what foods I like and what foods I don’t and I completely commiserate with complaining consumers whose meals have been swapped. While it doesn’t cost more money to choose what foods you want, it makes the diet much more edible considering that most people are likely going to hate at least some of the dishes.
Not a problem Renee, happy to share. Sorry to hear about your ups and downs – I’ve dealt with that most of my life. What I do now is stay as active as can be. I exercise six times a week, taking a weekend day off and do a combination of cardio & strength. I also have a standing desk now so I cut down on a lot of the sitting that I have working from home. I combine all that with keeping my portion sizes down, not much more than what I was eating while on the program. If I can keep snack-y type foods out of the house I can usually do fairly well. Best wishes on your continued weight loss!
NutriSystem has begun to focus a lot on providing support and teaching people a lot of the fundamentals of weight loss. Their efforts are in an attempt to provide some of the things that are at the core of Weight Watchers. But there are no in person meetings, so this is very different in some respects. When you sign up you will start getting helpful emails telling you exactly what you need to do.
It’s a shame the food can’t taste better, especially since it’s so expensive. Overall, though, the plan seems nutritionally sound, albeit a bit low in calories to be realistic for many dieters. And once the diet is over, it’s easy for the weight to come back.
You can find all kinds of Nutrisystem Lean 13 comments and remarks posted on the internet. This is helpful because it gives you a solid idea of what people think of this diet system and how they rate it in comparison to others. The feedback we found is very mixed, both positive and negative. While some people said they lost weight with this program, others said it did nothing for them.
I ordered the nutrisystem 1 month trial to help lose some weight I gained after a leg injury. The food was horrible. After two solid weeks of eating it, I felt like my body was poisoned by all of the preservatives. I felt horrible. Food is NOT fresh, mostly pasta in small sizes. TONS of sodium. Food looks nothing like adds- it’s packaged and full of preservatives. I can buy all of the foods and make fresh foods from the grocery for cheaper. Also had a hard time understanding how many calories I should be eating with the program as I got the same lump shipment of food as everyone else (I’m only 5’0 female and the plan was having me eat 2000 or more calories!) Overall a horrible waste of money and now I’m stuck with terrible tasting food (including desserts)that I can’t seen to give away! Save your money and go to the grocery store!
Nutrisystem says that having a friend to keep clients honest is one of the best practices within the program. Simply having one person to keep a client on a plan will ensure that the directions are more closely followed. Additionally, clients are encouraged to take on a healthy exercise program alongside the diet program.
You need to research the physiology of weight loss. Weight loss predisposes the body to gallbladder issues. Not everyone gets them, but some do and it has nothing to do with Nutrisystem except that it is helping you to lose weight. I am not a fan of Nutrisystem as it caused me significant gastric discomfort, but I stopped using it. But gallbladder problems can happen in anyone who loses or without a “program.” You have no basis for a lawsuit in my opinion. Your doctor should have explained that too you during your gallbladder treatment. And by the way, you don’t need a gallbladder to live.
I agree. I had been struggling to try to curb my carb and sugar addictions. After moving from Florida to Ohio 8 years ago, my lifestyle came to a screeching halt….and I put on about 30 lbs over that time. I’ve tried several diets and they worked short term but I’ve always gone back to my old eating habits I picked up after moving. So 4 weeks ago I decided to try NutraSystem. As of yesterday I’ve lost 13 lbs. I really love the fact that I don’t have to think about what to eat…I like the grab and go and not having to prepare foods too much. Not that I’m lazy, I love to cook, but eating this way is teaching me portion control…it’s shrinking my stomach size and I truly feel full after eating my meals and because of the snacks (low fat string cheese, almonds, yogurt, etc.), I’m not getting hungry in between meals…and I love the fact that I can have a snack in the evening. I’m going to stick with this…waiting for my second order to arrive this week. It was nice to be able to choose the foods I want so I was able to avoid the items that made me gassy. Good luck…stick with it, and try to learn something along the way.
The food was just as tasty as pre-cooked frozen meals you buy in the grocery store. I enjoyed many of the foods that Nutrisystem offers. The desserts and snacks were delicious. The dinners are done very nicely with foods that are very tasteful and full of flavor. The breakfasts were good (I especially liked the pancakes). The lunches were also good.
Jan, if your a good cook, why on earth did you choose to diet with Nutrisystem? Didn’t you know that it is made up of processed meals that are never going to be anything like as good as the ones you make yourself. If you cook healthy meals, they will help you lose weight because you control what goes into them.
