Hey Nellie, good question. As long as you keep eating small portions, keep your daily calorie count to the same as while you’re on the diet and do not return to old bad eating habits (like eating junk food or foods high in sugar, drinking soda etc) you should not gain weight.
I ordered a month’s Nutrisystem. However, when my shipment arrived, there was only food for 25 days. As far as I know, there is no month that contains only 25 days. I am cancelling my subscription immediately. The food is good but I do think this is false advertising and fraud. I plan to report the company to the Better Business Bureau.
Ratings reflect scores of 1 to 5 assigned to Nutrisystem in seven categories by nutritionists, specialists in diabetes and heart disease, and other diet experts on a ratings panel assembled by U.S. News. (See our Best Diets methodology.) When we combined the ratings, Nutrisystem landed in the middle of the pack. Experts found Nutrisystem effective for short-term weight loss but gave it average scores in other categories. Below are ratings in all categories and how the experts’ opinions broke down.
I just completed my first two weeks and I’ve lost 9LBS the first week and another 4LBS in week two for a total of 13LBS. I have been very pleased with the food (personalized my plan selections) and the only negative was that I was very gassy and some pretty painful stomach pains for a couple days during my second week. I did experience constipation for the first week and very well could have made a mistake by eating more meals with higher fiber content to combat this which may have created the stomach pain. I did take GasX which has solved the problem. My advice would be to stay strong, adhere to the plan and drink 8 to 10 16oz bottles of water per day. The results thus far have been amazing and I am well on my way to achieving my goals by the summer. VERY EXITED!
New for 2018 is the 7-Day Body Reboot, the one-week Phase 1 jumpstart that helps break the sugar habit and delivers fast results. In Phase 2, designed for steady weight loss, customers choose from an expanded menu and start adding in good carbs like fruits and whole grains. Phase 3 helps customers learn how to maintain a healthy weight, without hunger or deprivation.
Thanks for your honest review. I’m contemplating this program, haven’t looked into WW or Jenny Craig yet. I wanted to do some research and really find out what I can expect. I really hope my only problem is portion sizes, I think carbs do me alot of damage and I’m afraid NutriSystem may contain too many.
Sure I’m guilty of giving them some promotion… but unlike TV ads, I did at least write a factual, unbiased and accurate review. Including plus and minus points. This website took a lot of working on – and I don’t work for nothing. The small commission I make for referring people to the company is recompense for my work. Hope that clarifies things for you.
To get it in the right perspective, all you need to do is look at the total price you’re paying for the diet. Then deduct from that what you’d normally spend on the total amount of food you would eat for 28 days.
If you want to add more fruits and vegetables to the foods that are delivered the company just launched the NutriSystem Select program where fresh frozen foods are delivered to your house. This program expands the food choices and also improves the overall health profile of the food. We would observe that going with the Select option is the best one for long term health and long term weight loss success.
By the 3rd month, I lost even more weight and people were starting to notice. I was getting a lot of compliments. I was looking through some old pictures to compare with my newest pictures so I could make my first “reveal” photo.” Just wow”!
The skinny: Although today’s program is not as stringent as the original liquid fast Medifast launched decades ago, the low-fat, relatively low-carb plan is designed to bring about rapid weight loss by coaxing your body into a “fat-burning state” known as ketosis. With the Medifast 5 & 1 Plan, you eat five small, 100-calorie meal replacements a day (which you order online and have delivered) plus one “lean and green” meal you prepare, consisting of about 500 calories of lean chicken, fish or meat plus three servings of low-carb salad or green vegetables. The 70 meal replacement choices include shakes, bars, soups, pudding, oatmeal, chili, pretzel sticks, cheese puffs, and scrambled eggs.
If your order includes Lean13, you’ll receive Turbo Takeoff, your first week on the dish delivery program, with morning meal, lunch, dinner, and a shake and a bar daily (no snack), plus a particularly designed Daily Tracker for fast outcomes.
I am amazed. I have been a life long devotee to Weight Watchers and was actually a leader for 8 years. I have regained all my weight over the last 10 years. I recognized, after trying anything I could think of to lose weight that what I needed to get started was a program that was prepared for me that had no alternative choices and was rigid and tasty enough to satisfy me. Well here I am 17.8 pounds lighter after using NS since August 15th. I could not be more pleased with the results. The only change from the suggested menu I have made is to use cooked spaghetti squash (1/2 cup equals 1 cup of fresh vegetables) to bulk up my evening meals. I have been following it to a T and am completely thrilled. I add garlic to things that taste bland and top my pop tart sized pizza with mushrooms galore to full me up. I don’t love the food bars but with this amount of success with buy yet another box. Re the expense? It is less than the cost of a meal out for hubby and I, and we’ve not gone out to eat since I started. Hoping I can keep just dedication in the front of my mind since I have much to lose. Thank you Nutri System and Walmart for the encouragement to keep going!
You need to research the physiology of weight loss. Weight loss predisposes the body to gallbladder issues. Not everyone gets them, but some do and it has nothing to do with Nutrisystem except that it is helping you to lose weight. I am not a fan of Nutrisystem as it caused me significant gastric discomfort, but I stopped using it. But gallbladder problems can happen in anyone who loses weight…with or without a “program.” You have no basis for a lawsuit in my opinion. Your doctor should have explained that too you during your gallbladder treatment. And by the way, you don’t need a gallbladder to live.
I lost over 90 pounds on Nutrisystem in less than a year. It’s simple- it works if you do it. If you let the food sit in the box in a closet- it’s not going to work. If you don’t like a certain meal, don’t order it next time. It’s not rocket science, and no one ever said that dieting was enjoyable!
But if you’re like most of us, you’ll probably not go that far. Going the do-it-yourself route may work if you’re willing and able to do a lot of research, put together a reasonable plaln and stick to it. But just as most of us call a plumber rather than trying to fix the water heater ourselves, most consumers turn to commercial weight-loss plans.
I’d say 95% of the NS foods taste great. The other 5% are just not my thing (I don’t like mushrooms or eggs). Luckily though, Nutrisystem offers many different foods to choose from. Nutrisystem is also adding new food items to the menu all of the time. Always good to keep the variety up. The Nutrisystem plans foods are also healthy.
I’m at the end of my 2 months and haven’t lost any more weight. I lost 10 pounds after the first week. I was very excited and I’ve been very serious about losing weight. My goal was to lose 30 pounds and after following the diet strictly I never lost one more pound. I followed the daily tracker booklet every day. I don’t dare ask for my money back since I didn’t cancel within the first week… Bummer!
“The South Beach Diet is well-positioned for growth in 2018. Our launch in 2017 allowed us to gain a deep understanding of what customers are looking for in a low-carb, low-sugar approach and based on their feedback, we have added new elements to the program for 2018 that are resonating well,” said Zier.
It’s been a while since NutriSystem felt that sexy, too. The veteran diet-industry player was bankrupt a decade ago, then reinvented itself as an Internet distributor in 1999, struggling to sell its prepackaged meals through banner ads on Web sites. It took Net entrepreneur Michael J. Hagan to turn things around, ironically by shifting NutriSystem’s ad budget from the Web to traditional media.
In another unpublished study that was funded and led by Nutrisystem, researchers reviewed self-reported weight diaries of overweight and obese Nutrisystem customers who started the program between 2008 and 2010 and used an online tracking tool to record their weight. Data from more than 100,000 customers showed that at three months, about 79 percent of them had lost at least 5 percent of their initial weight and 33 percent had lost 10 percent or more. (Even a 5-percent loss can help stave off some diseases.) By six months, when 32,000 of the dieters were still recording their weight loss, 86 percent had lost 5 percent of their initial weight; 63 percent had lost 10 percent.
The best part of the Nutrisystem plan is that I do not have to prepare the food and it still tastes great. I am losing weight eating healthy delicious foods. I’m happy and so is my doctor who was telling me I needed to lose weight.
