“Nutrisystem foods you can eat”

Thank you for the sensible critique and cost info. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research on how much this diet cost, and I’m glad I found your breakdown. We’re hoping to lose some serious weight!

With Nutrisystem, there will be a small amount of additional grocery shopping that you will have to do every month, as you will want to mix fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet as well. I found that I was able to keep costs down by buying bagged salads, and that sort of thing. They provide a grocery guide, though, so don’t worry too much about that particular component of the diet.

I started the NS plan on February 15. I haven’t stuck with it 100% (a few dinners out here and there) but I am disappointed that I only lost 6.5 lbs. I am 5’7″ and my starting weight was 177. I’m currently 170.4. I haven’t added veggies. I feel super deprived (likely because of my few side trips) but I can’t help but feel that I should have lost more weight. I should probably add that I am 48 and post menopausal – I do work out most days for 30-40min (either a treadmill or Beach Body videos) and I have three labradors who I walk most days (they’re not strollers!). Ugh. Just feeling a little discouraged but I intend to finish out my second month.

Enough about me and more about the plan. I have done every diet around and follow strict food guidelines to get in shape and maintain normally. I wanted something easy for a change where I didn’t have to cook (i get so tired of cooking) and could still lose weight. So far I’m thrilled it’s working and most food is edible and okay, I have had no issues with my heavy work out schedule or being weak. I eat my small nutrisystem breakfast before going and have the smartcarb and Powerfuel snack when i get back, then lunch an hour later. I want my mother to go on the plan as a way to eat healthier. She’s a senior (82) and won’t cook much so eats what ever she can grab from the fridge and it’s a very unbalanced diet. I figure she probably eats out at least once a week maybe more so that $70 a week should be not more than she spends now. After tying it I think it will be awesome for her.

If there’s one area you’d think a big diet company would focus on, it’s the customer service. But this was one complaint that I kept seeing about Nutrisystem – I disagree, with this assessment, however (more on that below).

My husband has lost six pound so far, but I have only lost three pounds. I’m okay with that difference because my husband has more to lose than I do. I’m just glad that I have a partner to do this with. In just two weeks we have more energy and enthusiasm for life. It is really great! I’m so happy that we made this decision.

Hi Pete – the frozen food is an additional charge, but can be included in your 4-week order or as an ala carte item. If you check out the costs the frozen options don’t cost that much more and are definitely worth mixing in, in my opinion.

The Nutrisystem website says that no pregnant woman should be on any program. Mothers may use Nutrisystem after giving birth in order to achieve weight loss goals. However, they should call for a special plan (the same number as breastfeeding mothers should call) and also take special precautions.

The Pritikin diet is a very low-fat, high-carbohydrate eating plan. The focus is to eat vegetables, fruits, and high-fiber grains. Fats should not exceed 10% of total daily calories. Nathan Pritikin’s diet is based on the theory of eating low-fat, low-calorie, plant-based foods to promote weight loss and improve or prevent heart disease. The revised Pritikin diet includes a “Calorie Density Solution:” Consume low-calorie dense foods (for example, apples, brown rice) until full, six to seven times daily. Eating low-calorie foods throughout the day will reduce hunger and cause weight loss.

As of right now I am still on the fence about committing to NS auto ship plan and the cost. I know I would like to do it and may have to order the Core plan where I can pick and choose the food I get (I think)but would be worth the extra cost.

The cost seemed expensive to me at first, but now that I have the food I guess it isn’t overly expensive. There are some costs with buying your own fruits or vegetables to consider too, but overall it seems fairly affordable. I’m only going to be on it for 2 to 3 months, so the total won’t be to bad. Anyways, thanks for the detailed pricing breakdown, really appreciate it.

I was very frustrated with Nutrisystem. Because I need to lose over 100 pounds and don’t like to cook, I thought Nutrisystem would be the ideal program for me. When my first shipment arrived, I had no idea how much cupboard space would be needed to house all of the items. (I didn’t try the plan that has items that need to be kept frozen.) I ended up keeping most of the food on a counter which “screamed” to my family and friends that once again Barb’s trying to lose weight.

Another plus to the Nutrisystem plan is that you will be eating smaller meals more often, which is considered a healthier way to eat based on research. It has been found to promote greater weight loss and maintenance and the prevention of other health issues.

While it’s not designed to treat the condition or replace proper medications, Nutrisystem can help people with type 2 diabetes lose weight. The program can achieve this by providing portion control, reduced fat, and fewer calories.

Have been on Nutrisytem for 3 months now and I could not be any happier with their customer service and support…For all of you experiencing bloating/gas…watch what products that you are eating that have mannitol/maltitol sugar alcohols in them…They can cause digestive issues. Since I have eliminated those products, I feel great. A Nutrisystem CSR can provide you with a list. I was stuck on a plateau for 6 weeks…I called & they were quickly able to offer a few suggestion. They worked like a charm! In 6 days I dropped 3 lbs and resumed my weight loss…The food may just be okay, but I find it easy and convenient. To me the support and availability of their staff has made a world of difference. This is the 3rd diet program I have tried, and the only one that has worked well for me.

In December of 2011 I decided to start using Nutrisystem to lose weight.  Up until that point I had been overweight nearly all of my adult life and much of my childhood too.  I was average weight for about a year in my early twenties when I met my husband.  Once we started dating and we were happy, then the weight crept back up and reached its peak almost a year before I began my weight loss journey with Nutrisystem.  At one point I was over 300 pounds.  I did some dieting and exercise and got down to 260 pounds which was my starting weight for Nutrisystem.

Ok first of all… Come on people with the bad reviews its a DIET… Its not suppose to taste amazing… It does taste fairly good thou. I loved the breakfast and lunch bars so far I was worried it wouldnt fill me but it was ok. I thought I would hate the beans and rice lunch but it was actually pretty good. I had the alfredo noodle dinner tonight and added some seasonings to it to help the taste.. I didnt like it but it was edible… Im alittle worried about the pizza… I think im going to put my pineapple on the pizza and some red onions… and bake it instead for nooking it. Over all Im very happy with this. I love that its a 5 day kit so i can do my diet during the week and just watch what i eat on weekends with my family. 🙂 I really do recommend this!

The weight loss is not real fast. I am on week 11 and I have lost 21 pounds. But, there was no starvation involved. I eat a lot of salads and I always keep good apples around to snack on. I haven’t been exercising any more than I was before. On the weekends I may cheat a little but, I never go crazy. I haven’t had a regular soda, any sweets outside of Nutrisystems snacks and I order wisely at restaurants. There are lots of Nutrisystem compliant options wherever I go. For example, I can go to McDonalds. I’ll order a hamburger, the base model, a side salad with fat free dressing and a diet coke. It’s enough food and, in my world, is Nutrisystem compliant. On my weekends I eat a lot of salads and grilled fish or chicken.

Hi Erin – Thanks so much for the positive feedback. The first time I ever used Nutrisytem, which was many years ago at this point, I think I was one it for 4 months. I had a lot more weight to lose then; now when I sign up, I usually use it for a month, maybe two at the most. I am typically able to lose at least 10 pounds in a month – at that’s at a minimum. To lock in the auto delivery deal, you have to commit to two months, so if you hit your weight loss goals after month 1, I recommend switching your order to just the Turbo Shakes – that will ensure you lock in the most savings, and also helps to keep you on track once you start transitioning off the program. As I have said before, you have to be committed to the program to get results, but as long as you follow their plan you will lose weight! Anyways, best of luck and please let us know how it goes :-).

Nutrisystem has helped me to stop eating for the wrong reasons. Not only do I think that it will help me lose weight, but will also help me to make a new, healthier life for myself. The food is excellent, the price is about what I was spending at the grocery store anyhow, and I don’t even have to try to lose weight. Nutrisystem makes this the easiest change I have ever had.

“I’m pleased with the reimagined South Beach Diet as a home-delivered weight-loss plan, and delighted that it’s continuing to help people achieve optimal health in a heart-healthy way,” said Dr. Arthur Agatston, the world-renowned cardiologist, and creator of “The South Beach Diet,” which became a runaway bestseller with more than 23 million copies in print and multiple titles appearing on the New York Times bestseller list.

Instead, they swapped many of the desserts, breakfasts, lunches and dinners with things that I suspect were cheaper to make. Most notable were the five packages of scrambled eggs. I only picked one of those, yet five arrived. The powdered eggs were not only disgusting, as I discuss in today’s video, but likely much less expensive to manufacture than some of the other breakfast dishes.

Nutrisystem’s meal replacement diet home delivery system has been designed to provide you with low calorie, high nutrition ready prepared meals to eat in place of your regular meals. Their meals are carefully nutritionally balanced to contain all the important nutrients that your body needs in order to maintain a good level of health. At the same time, they are low in calories to help you lose weight.

I have read a number of Nutrisystem reviews where people say that Nutrisystem is hard. Honestly it was never hard for me to stick to the Nutrisystem plan. I believe that it was easy for me because of the results that I was seeing.  It’s not hard to stick to the Nutrisystem plan because you are able to choose your meals each day.  You are able to customize the plan to your personal likings and tastes.  I am pleased with the amount of flexibility that Nutrisytem provides.  I like to eat a variety of foods and with Nutrisystem I am able to do that and still lose the weight.  I am an all or nothing person so I was all in with this program and it provided me with the results that kept me motivated to stick with it until I reached my goal and even beyond into maintenance.

Thank you for taking the time to send in your review. We are so happy to hear about your success on the program. We appreciate the feedback on the NuMi app and love that you found it to be a helpful resource.

However, some people have complained of feeling hungry while on the Nutrisystem diet. Not to mention, others have complained about the food options and the overall flavor of the prepackaged meals, shakes, and bars.

my girlfreind was on Nutrisystem for 9 months. it worked great for her and changed her eating habbits. she lost 70lbs and kept off for 2 yrs now. there were weeks were her weight did not change then boom 3 or 4 lbs in a week. i say hang in there and follow program and it will work. i lost 60lbs from working out so you can get it started with nutrisystem, or excercise witch ever works best for you or both. make it a life style change. good luck to all. we made saturdays eat what we want day (once we got down to sizes we wanted),gives us something to look forward to when your dieing for something you like, and we maintaining weight .

I have been on the Nutrisystem Silver diet plan, using the 5 day flex plan for about 3 months now. The first month I lost 4 pounds, but I didn’t stick to the diet exactly. I was eating things not approved when I went out, and didn’t pay much attention to the trackers online. Since I saw so little difference, I went full speed ahead on the diet. I have lost 31 pounds since the first month, and am confident I will lose more.

What exactly is in the Turbo Shakes? I’m not looking for proprietary information, just whether there are any drugs in the ingredients so I can determine whether they may conflict with prescriptions that I now take. Are the ingredients identified on the package?

I just finished 5 wks of nutrisystem and I have Been really with the exception of 3 days out of this whole time!!! I could probably use more activity but I lost a total of 5 lbs which is as very slow process but the food is not terrible and at least I am losing, at this rate I need to lose 25 more lbs and I am a true foodie so trying to stick with it and not let temptation get a hold of me!!! At this rate it will take a while. It is is healthy to lose slowly, and try not to get discouraged because my loss is slower han I had thought!!! But bottom line, it is working!!!

Anyone who thinks NS food is good, or even OK, must have been eating some really ghastly stuff before! I run my own business and get absolutely tired of grocery shopping and cooking. The doctor ordered me to lose weight. I was willing to eat ANYTHING for meals that was easy. Why does NS call this stuff “meals?” I still had to shop, cook and supply most of what I ate, in addition to their “meal.” The stuff has so many awful ingredients! And it tastes awful! Cardboard “meat” patties covered with brownish, gellantinous goo. Good diet food can still offer a lot of interesting tastes. Not NS food. After 10 days on this diet I got so depressed I put it all back in the box and returned it. They should have refunded about $250 – they gave me a credit of $7.95 – they said I had returned one dessert. Liars! I tried for months and never got any more money from them. Customer NOService.
