My husband and I just started Nutrisystem. We talked about it for a month before deciding to order and I have to say, We have no regrets. I am pre-diabetic and I am significantly overweight. My husband only needs to lose a few pounds but everyone needs a diet buddy! After scrolling through bank statements we realized that we would actually save money by ordering for the both of us. I think a huge misconception that I have seen on other review sites is that if someone is overweight then ,obviously, they are lazy. In my case working extremely long hours as a nurse has taken its toll. I never feel like cooking after 12 hour shifts in a psychiatric ward. It was so easy to grab something on the way home from work. My husband also works 12 hour shifts as a supervisor and my youngest is also a nurse working 12 hour shifts. Once we get home we crash and burn. On days off we are very active. We kayak, ride bikes, walk and work outside nonstop. It’s so convenient to come home and have food that’s ready to go and good for us. I have already lost weight and feel great! My weight has been an issue for years but was compounded when my Dad passed away. All I wanted to do was eat. I’m trying to avoid the same issues he dealt with for the majority of his life. He was diabetic and had heart disease. I think every diet has pros and cons but when you start factoring in heart problems and diabetes then it’s a no-brainer. Also check nutrition facts for what you normally eat and I would guarantee that the sodium and preservatives in Nutrisystem aren’t nearly as bad as most things that we eat.
Hey Rebecca, it’s always great to hear from folks that are doing this with a positive attitude and real determination to succeed like you guys. All I can say is you’re going the right way and just stick with the plan and you’ll be wearing even smaller size pants before you know it!
On their Core plan, which costs $295 a month, meals might include pizza, chocolate muffins, and loaded baked potatoes—all their creations and all calorie, carb, fat and portion-controlled. The Core plan allows you to choose your food and have unlimited access to “expert counselors and dieticians.”
I have not been very impressed with the Nutrisystem diet program. I’ve been on it for over a year and only lost 45 pounds. My support group keeps telling me to stick with it longer, claiming that if you stick with the plan you will lose all the weight you want. I’ve read on the NS support forums that 45 pounds is great, but I had hoped that I would have lost 100 pounds by now. Maybe I’ll need to start exercising after all.
They encourage whole grains and fiber, and have a strong focus on portion size and social support. If you start playing around with their online you have the option of joining their community for free.
I ordered the nutrisystem 1 month trial to help lose some weight I gained after a leg injury. The food was horrible. After two solid weeks of eating it, I felt like my body was poisoned by all of the preservatives. I felt horrible. Food is NOT fresh, mostly pasta in small sizes. TONS of sodium. Food looks nothing like adds- it’s packaged and full of preservatives. I can buy all of the foods and make fresh foods from the grocery for cheaper. Also had a hard time understanding how many calories I should be eating with the program as I got the same lump shipment of food as everyone else (I’m only 5’0 female and the plan was having me eat 2000 or more calories!) Overall a horrible waste of money and now I’m stuck with terrible tasting food (including desserts)that I can’t seen to give away! Save your money and go to the grocery store!
I’ve notified by email but can’t get through via telephone – the wait is never ending. My wife, Debi, and I want to cancel membership. The program food is not sitting well with our bodies. We were successful on it 3 years ago, but struggling now. Would like to return my most recent order ** and her order **.
I just started Nutrisystem, largely based on this review. I’ve lost and gained the same 100 lb about four times prior to this. I had the most luck with Atkins but I can’t sustain that for the long term. A lot of people talk about the price, but I don’t know how many of them add up the cost of what they are currently eating. Just doing some basic averages, and Nutrisystem even with adding veggies, cheese, and eggs (my protein choice), will be HALF what I’m used to spending.
I contacted weight loss counselor. Vicky was very helpful, she spend almost an hour on the phone with me listening and advising. We came up with the solution and she helped with my order. Good job. Thanks Vicky, I appreciate attention and caring response.
been on it 3 days now and i LOVE it. the food i think is awesome. i’m full after every meal and actually feel i am eating too much but i am following the plan. i eat 1100-1200 calories a day and exercise 500-850 a day. i’m down 3.5 pounds. everything i have eaten so far tastes really good.
I started the ns prog. today. I got an instant headache. I read the label and it’s sodium content is way above what your daily intake should be. I have high blood pressure and I don’t think this is too safe. One dinner entree contained 2400 grams of sodium. Is it just me or does this seem too over the top.
Nutrisystem Silver Core – This is the most popular among users due to a few extra features available than the Nutrisystem Silver Basic like priority processing of your orders will be done. You would get free sessions from the counselors over phone and menu customization feature is also available. All this comes at an economical and affordable cost of $10 per day.
I looked into Nutrisystem to try to lose a few pounds. When signing up I changed my mind and then received an email stating that they would give me a sizable discount if I moved forward and I elected to do so. After eating the food I decided that I did not wish to…
There are ways to save on the cost. Do not let that first price you see when you go online shock you. The customer service reps are always there to help and find the best plan that’s cost effective and right for you. They are very nice and very knowledgeable. I ended up paying an average of $150.00 a month on Nutrisystem. Here are some of the ways I saved.
Perhaps the easiest way to buy Nutrisystem is online through their site. You can sign up for plans and choose from any of the meals available (though you’ll need to upgrade in some cases for frozen meals).
My appetite has gradually become accustomed to the diet. While I’m still relishing the opportunity to gnaw at a juicy and tender center cut, I rarely have the dire hunger that nearly crippled me at the outset.
Lost 37 pounds by following them for 4 months, will continue. I have tried their service and got desire results, they are going to start new healthy diet/prepackage ingredients with recipe – ready to cook – love to try all sort of international foods. Best option for overall family health with variety of tastes!
I’ve been on this diet for only 3 days and what I’ve had so far is far from appetizing. I did Weight Watchers before and had much better luck with preparing my own meals and deciding what I wanted to eat each day. The food is just gross. I have called twice now to have the advisors reset my login to get help online and still on day 3 I can’t access the websites member information.
Nutrisystem for Women foods include low Glycemic Index carbohydrates and the right amounts of protein and fiber, yet to still be low in fat. Each one of them fits into the Nutrisystem Advanced low-glycemic meal plan that’s very easy to follow. You just grab an entrée, add-in a few grocery items (like fresh fruits, vegetables, salads and dairy items), and you’re ready to go. Plus! You get to eat five times a day to help reduce those cravings between meals!
My second month I ordered pizzas, melts, burgers, chicken sandwiches and chicken breasts, hamburgers. No, it’s not like the fast food versions. But fun to be able to have pizza in some form on a diet! And bread! And dessert even at 11 at night before bed! And STILL lost weight!!
With Nutrisystem I have not became discouraged because Nutrisystem makes the plan so simple to follow. I eat great food everyday and I don’t have to spend hours preparing and cooking my own food. While it’s not fresh food (the meals are frozen), it still just as great tasting.
Good for you! I was on this deit back 10 years ago. I am a type 2 diabetic and it helped me get my blood sugars under control. I am ready to get back on this diet and I plan to get back into the 110 readings on my blood sugars. I can’t wait to start. I plan to receive my first month supply on Monday.
I joined Nutrisystem two and a half months ago. When I first started the program it was an adjustment I had to get used to. I was used to overeating all of the time. With Nutrisystem the food portions are designed to be just right so a person gets the nutrition he needs and still loses weight. I had to get used to eating the right sized portion instead of overeating. Once I adjusted to eating differently the plan started to really work.
Here’s a breakdown of the nutritional content of a typical day on Nutrisystem’s “Lean 13 Uniquely Yours” plans for men and women, alongside recommendations from the government’s 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
I have been on Nutrisystem since March of this year and I have lost 50 lbs. My only complaint is the price, however right now it is not a strain on me and I am pleased with the results. Some folks hate the food, but I actually enjoy it. You do still have to buy food to add in, but you get to eat basically all day long. I like the fact that I do get to eat pancakes, waffles, muffins, chococate cake, brownies, cake, cookies so I do not feel like I am missing out on anything and I have no reason to go out and binge on things I used to binge on.
The next morning, I woke up much earlier than expected, especially since it was a Saturday. I was starving. I rummaged through the NutriSystem box in my apartment and pulled out a blueberry muffin. Not only was it wholly inadequate calorie-wise, it also felt stale in my mouth and lacked any sort of recognizable flavor. I needed two glasses of water to wash it down.
There are some success stories posted on the official website. These are before and after photos with names and the amount of weight each person lost. However, these success stories may not apply individually to Nutrisystem Lean 13. There are also celebrity testimonials, one of which is Marie Osmond, the spokesperson for this company, who lost 50 pounds.
If you’re on a tighter budget, then the Basic will absolutely produce great results and is a plan that I have had success with. When you’re on this plan, Nutrisystem will build a menu for you from some of their most popular food items. I found that there was plenty of variety on this plan, but if you want to have more control over your menu, then I’d recommend upgrading to either the Core or Uniquely Yours plans.
To make it easier for you to get your PowerFuel serving each day, Nutrisystem offers optional protein shakes that contain 15 grams of protein per serving and count as one PowerFuel. For other examples of PowerFuels, watch this quick video:
When I was on the plan my wife and children would eat their food while I ate my Nutrisystem food. I love my wife’s cooking. Her food was hard to resist; however, I stuck to the Nutrisystem plan because their food also tastes good.
