NutriSystem does offer these online resources and support, but it doesn’t present specific instructions on basic nutrition or healthy eating. Initially positive results from following the meal plans may be a short-term fix if you don’t know how to eat healthily on your own. It’s important to learn about healthy foods and how to eat them in proper portions.
Thanks for all of the information. Makes my decision a lot easier knowing exactly what things are going to cost! Hopefully it won’t be an issue when I cancel my subscription – I’m going to try your suggestion of switching to Turbo shakes once I hit my goal. Cheers!
I loved it I did not have to think. I bought 2 weeks worth and made ten piles. no thinking about what to eat or when.I used the food additions for the extras.I went to site and print out the additions made shopping easy. wish there were more to chose from. I had far worse diet food. I really liked most of it ( couple of the dinners were pretty bad so I added the morning and afternoon snacks to these witch I saved for the nighttime most days as this is when I want to eat. yes the portions are small but the food is nutrient dense so I was not hungry in between most of the time. the object was for me to loose some weight I had gained. and it worked great. I took a break for two weeks and maintained I’m going back to day to get some more I would have stayed on it if there were more to chose from
I DID follow the NS Uniquely Yours plan nearly to the letter and boy did it pay off. Turbo week I lost 7 pounds. I did not feel great or energetic but I gutted it out without a single cheat! Huge victory for my undisciplined self. I did not consume every single veggie allotted but I came close. Four cups of veggies a day is a lot. I really craved some comfort food and some of the meals in the Turbo kit I will never order again. The shakes and Nutricrush bars were fine. The meal portions were pretty shocking but surprisingly satisfying with all the protein inserted into the meals and detox from my usual sugar rollercoaster. I did experience some headaches probably from the reduction in sugar similar to a caffeine withdrawal. One indulgence I cannot live without is my one strong morning coffee and creamer, so I guess I did cheat with 1 Tbs. (30cal) sweetened full fat creamer daily.
I have lost about ten pounds so far. I feel like it should be a little more than that, but have you ever heard of someone losing ten pounds during the holidays? And honestly, I probably ate too much on my free days. I’m going to work on that over the next round of meals to see if that increases the weight loss. Also, I haven’t been exercising. I’m going to try and get in a noon walk each day to see if that will help. I am a true Nutrisystem fan!
Hey Suelesh (I removed your email to preserve your privacy), A lot of the process for losing weight is mental as it is physical and those foods are a big problem for diabetics, but many still crave them. To answer your question, according to Nutrisystem:
Spring into action and save big on delicious meals and made for EASY and convenient weight loss. We have all your favorites like chocolate muffins, chicken sandwiches, ice cream and more! Order now: http://ntri.co/6009DVIOt pic.twitter.com/okzsgAOMlr
Lynn, I’ve been on NS for 3 weeks today and have lost 10 lbs. I couldn’t be happier with the program. My husband jokes me saying I’m going to be the next spokesperson:) This weight has come off effortlessly with just daily walks through my neighborhood. You do have to do some sort of exercise. I went into this knowing I wouldn’t be eating all the tasty gourmet meals that got me into this predicament in the first place. I knew that if I was going to lose weight, I was going to have to make a few sacrifices, and I tell you, the sacrifices were minimal, the food isn’t that bad. I’ve read so much about the awful muffins so I couldn’t wait to see if they were actually that bad. Do they taste like ones bought from Duncan Donuts?? Of course not! For muffins offered on a weight lose program,,they’re pretty good. There was a few things that I just couldn’t tolerate,,so,,I just didn’t order them next time around, pretty easy solution. I’m NEVER hungry which is shocking for me since I’ve always been a grazer. I know of 2 other people who tried NS and had amazing results, I was at the end of my rope and was feeling desperate to lose the weight. My old habits are now broken and I feel awesome. As far as the money, sure it sounds like alot. I’m an PD officer and work nights and would spend on average $10-12 a night on fast food and junk, so we didn’t really feel the expense of it. So good luck to, stick with it and you will lose!
Okay, that is not a general rule of thumb for everyone because we’re not all built the same and some thin people actually eat huge meals, while some overweight people eat relatively small meals. It just depends on how your body metabolizes your food, but the general rule of physics must apply that you can’t be overweight of you don’t eat more than your body can burn off.
First though, about sustainability. While healthy portion-controlled meals combined with exercise is the secret sauce for weight loss, with Nutrisystem doing the work for you, once you’re off the program, can you sustain that? Annals of Internal Medicine says Nutrisystem “show(s) promising weight loss results; however, additional studies evaluating long-term outcomes are needed.”
I continued enjoying the Nutrisystem foods and never got tired of them. I found ways to apply my vegetables to my meals in creative ways such as adding spinach or olives to my Nutrisystem pizza or adding spaghetti squash to my Nutrisystem meatballs. The options are never ending.
Lap band (gastric banding) surgery, also referred to as laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) is a surgical procedure in which an adjustable belt is placed around the upper portion of the stomach. Candidates for lap band surgery are generally individuals with a body mass index over 40 kg/m2, or are more than 45 kilograms over their ideal body weight. Side effects, risks, and complications from lap band surgery should be discussed with a surgeon or physician prior to the operation.
The South Beach diet is the newest high-protein, low carbohydrate, and fat-controlled diet. This diet claims that the cause for obesity “is simple: The faster the sugars and the starches you eat are processed and absorbed into your bloodstream, the fatter you get.” The goal is to “take out bad fats and bad carbohydrates.” Like many of the fad diets, it is divided into different phases. The first phase claims to eliminate cravings and kick-start weight loss; the second phase is for long-term, steady weight loss; and the third phase is to be followed for 365 days a year once you have achieved your weight loss goal.
Hey Cory, congrats on your success. That’s an impressive load of weight to lose in just under 4 months, you must feel so proud. Thanks for sharing your experience with us here and good luck for the future!
The next step is up to the individual to carry that on once the finish the diet. By watching what they eat and drink–and reading the labels on all food produce they buy to avoid the worst offending ingredients.
Hey Leandra, you might lose a few pounds in your first week, but to get to 145 you’ll need to work on your diet longer term. I know a few drivers with weight problems because their jobs mean sitting at the wheel for many hours each day, while they eat a load of junk food because it’s easy and convenient. Maybe you can relate to this.
I do believe that by eating what I’ve been eating it should come off, right? I have even tried, a day off NS to try to trick my body, as per instructions. How much time should I give this cause I’m running out of money to invest ..I thought I’d be at my 30lb weight loss by November…not looking good
Thus, I turned to Nutrisystem. This was not a financial decision, per se, as you’ll see they can be relatively expensive – though there are hacks you can use to save significant money on the plan. Rather, it was a life decision. There was no real reason why I chose Nutrisystem.
Although Nutrisystem has programs for “meat eaters” as well, the company recognizes the discipline that it takes to be a vegetarian. The vegetarian program has just as many meal options (100+) as the other programs. Here are a few of them:
The weekends were challenging as we chose to go out to our favorite restaurants. I ordered off the Lite menu or A La Carte. The hardest part was avoiding the chips and dip at the Mexican restaurant. This usually resulted in me actually sitting on my hands. Yes the struggle was real here.
If that includes a lot of bread or pasta, pastry, candy bars, cookies, cake, plus drinking soda (you know the things and I’m pretty sure most people know it too), you need to cut them out or at least cut them down dramatically.
You might have a good product. I do not know, but I lost 65 pounds all by myself and couldn’t be happier. My comment is PLEASE stop so many commercials. I imagine Marie had to have plastic surgery to get rid of the excess skin left after losing so much weight. She is a beautiful woman, I will grant you that but come on one commercial after another is getting to be too much. Your company must be making billions off of the poor overweight people, which is fine with me, but please could you cut back on the commercials. When I see too many commercials on certain products/services I boycott them. I do not need your service and I think you are an honest and reliable service, so PLEASE limit the commercials.
Banana Spice Muffins. Apple Cinnamon Soy Chips. Vegetarian Sloppy Joes. There’s a whole list of prepackaged meals and snacks to buy either online or from the QVC shopping channel. Fruits, veggies, and dairy products from your local market supplement the plan. While it’s possible to follow the diet without NutriSystem foods, it’s obvious the company makes a lot of its money from selling these products.
Free Foods are no-calorie or low-calorie optional add-ins that you can use to spice up your Nutrisystem foods or your SmartCarbs, PowerFuels and Vegetables. These optional extras are unlimited when they are less than 10 calories.
I was on the Nutrisystem men’s basic plan. I ate good food every day. Foods such as blueberry pancakes, blueberry muffins, honey mustard pretzel sticks, beef stew and broiled beef patties. Nutrisystem truly does go to great lengths to help make losing weight easy.
I was passing blood, the food is horrible, the meat smells like Dog Food. I lost 14 lbs.no wonder I could not tolerate the food, my Dr. told me to get off this plan but now I am using something else. Having no problems.
Since Nutrisystem primarily revolves around the delivery of carefully portioned meals directly to your home, the first and most important decision that you must make is which plan to follow. For most people, this mostly boils down to cost. The main difference between the plans is the variety of foods that you have at your disposal. The more varied the offerings are, the more expensive the plan tends to be.
The NutriSystem For women meal programs contain more calories than any of their other plans, as women have a larger need for energy. The meal plan includes a delicious breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and dessert each day. Other than the Silver program you get to eat six times a day. From pasta to pizza to desserts and burgers, the NutriSystem menu plan offers a variety of foods to choose from.
NutriSystem has begun to focus a lot on providing support and teaching people a lot of the fundamentals of weight loss. Their efforts are in an attempt to provide some of the things that are at the core of Weight Watchers. But there are no in person meetings, so this is very different in some respects. When you sign up you will start getting helpful emails telling you exactly what you need to do.
Don’t get discouraged on this or any diet. I asked the Wellness Director at work why I wasn’t losing weight, but my clothes were getting looser. I was also going to Planet Fitness with a friend a few tines a week. She said that what was happening was that I was building muscle, and redistributing my weight bc of exercise.
Sorry to say right now there are no discount coupons available. But you get an automatic discount off the full retail price when you sign up for auto-delivery that can bring the price down to less than $300 for the first month. Click the advertisement banner bottom of this page it will open the official Nutrisystem website on the page that makes that offer.
