“I subscribed to Right Size Smoothies for Monthly delivery. I really loved the stuff but had one huge complaint,” said Deborah of Fountain Inn, S.C., in a ConsumerAffairs review. “I subscribed at their website, the price was $10.00, not bad, but to my surprise it cost $20.00 shipping and handling. Total was $30.00.”
Just reporting in. I’m on day 21. I started July 1. Water is still a issue for me but getting better. I ordered my next order direct from NS and went on the My way plan. I’m still putting in a choice dinner meal on Saturdays. I’m down 6lbs. I’m happy. I trying so hard to stay on with the exercise also. I’m walking each day for 30 minutes. Getting it done early mornings since its hot in Florida. I feel less bloated and know soon, there will be a noticeable difference.
With more Americans indulging in rich foods, “diet” has become a dirty word to most food manufacturers, including Glendale-based Nestle USA, which Monday announced plans to sell off its line of Sweet Success diet drinks and bars. The company said it would sell the low-calorie products line to diet e-commerce Web site Nutrisystem.com for 900,000 shares of Nutrisystem stock, or 3% of the company.
I wasn’t sure how much fruit I can have, now I know once a day. I was eating it with breakfast though instead of with my PM snack. My schedule doesn’t always allow me to be home to have the snacks so does it matter when? Very pleased with the help.
The Atkins diet has gone through numerous revisions over the years, though there was never any acknowledgement of flaws in any of the diet plans. Until recently, there have not been any studies on the safety or efficacy of the Atkins diet. Short-term studies have shown improvements in blood cholesterol and blood sugar and an increased weight loss over the first three to six months in comparison to control diets. Unfortunately, the weight loss is not sustained at one year, and the improvements that were seen were due to weight loss and not the actual diet. The long-term safety of low-carbohydrate, high-protein diets is unknown at this time. In a 2007 rating of diet books done by Consumer Reports, the Atkins diet was ranked at the bottom.
I have been on Nutrisystem for 6 days and I am down 8 pounds. The food isn’t AMAZING but it is just fine in my opinion. Some of it is better, some not so good. I add tabasco to almost everything. I didn’t go into this thinking that the food would be great so I was not disappointed in the least. In fact it has been a very successful and satisfying week. As with all diets you don’t get to eat things you love. That’s what got us here in the first place. I have to wonder if people that are not losing weight on this are adding to many “grocery” items. I eat all the nutrisystem meals and add 10 almonds for a snack and a vegetable with dinner and have found that it is plenty of food. The first two days were hard but it has been a breeze the last few days. Because I am not getting fruit in my diet or dairy I have added a lot of vitamins. This is probably not the healthiest way to get these supplement fruit/dairy but being 50 pounds over weight is not healthy either. I will add those things back in moderation. Anyway, I think this is a great diet. You get to eat food, you don’t have to cook it, and the weight (at least for me) has been falling off. I would recommend this to anyone that has 30 or more pounds to lose.
There are dozens of Nutrisystem Lean 13 food options to choose from. These foods are broken down into categories such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, shakes, and boosters. You can even narrow your food search by selecting frozen or non-frozen. If you have any specific allergies, you can further narrow your selection of foods by ruling out ingredients such as:
There are three main components. Portion Control is significant to assist in staying clear of over consuming. A study titled “Efficacy of commercial weight loss programs: an updated systematic review” looked into Nutrisystem’s capabilities. It reported that “Nutrisystem participants achieved at least 3.8% greater weight loss at 3 months than control/education or counseling.”
Want to loose 10-15 lb. Been on the plan for 2 weeks – no cheating and NO weight loss! Lots of up and down with weight(like 2 lbs each day) – but I really thought I’d see more effect. I see that kind of fluctuation normally, so if after another week I plan to cancel and try something else. IF anything, it at least is teaching me to eat more salads and smaller portions. The food is OK – and the bloating and gas isn’t from all the extra veggies you may be eating – but from the food its self – look at the ingredients – lots of additives (including fiber and protein) and preservatives they have to put in to assure shelf life..its like astronaut food…wonder if they get the ‘poots’ in space???

Dietitians at Nutrisystem designed the program to contain small portions, balanced nutrition, and frequent meals. The program encourages customers to eat every 2-3 hours. We discovered that the portions are shockingly tiny.
Not everyone is quite so strong willed and many do return to old eating/drinking habits and gain weight. This diet is not just made to make you lose weight, it’s designed to teach your body to get used to eating less and to teach your brain to be aware of what you’re eating all the time – even when you’re not dieting.
I have been on Nutrisystem since March of this year and I have lost 50 lbs. My only complaint is the price, however right now it is not a strain on me and I am pleased with the results. Some folks hate the food, but I actually enjoy it. You do still have to buy food to add in, but you get to eat basically all day long. I like the fact that I do get to eat pancakes, waffles, muffins, chococate cake, brownies, cake, cookies so I do not feel like I am missing out on anything and I have no reason to go out and binge on things I used to binge on.
my daughter went from a size 24 to a size 8 in an 2 year period she is 5′ 10″ and looks great, my son decided to do this diet and went from 230 to 190 he is 6′ 3″ lost it in 6 months. they stuck to the plan, told me it wasnt the best but it worked. they both modified their diets and are still at this weight 1 year later for both
Figueroa’s team ultimately found that the key to arterial health in obese postmenopausal women is in diet — specifically, a hypocaloric program such as the one offered by Nutrisystem. Pressure waves generated by contraction of the heart muscle travel faster through stiff arteries, because stiff arteries are not able to expand outward. Sensors placed on the subject can detect changes in pulse velocity that result from treatment. The researchers observed improvements in arterial stiffness with diet alone. The findings also indicate that there is an early effect of diet on leg arterial stiffness that influences brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity, a marker of central arterial stiffness. This reduction in arterial stiffness can be considered to have a positive influence on cardiovascular function.
U.S. News & World Report ranked the Nutrisystem diet as the 15th best out of 29 diets, outscoring popular programs like the South Beach diet and Medifast, but falling behind Slim-Fast, Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. The panel of experts behind the rankings praised Nutrisystem for being simple to follow, but caution that it may not be a good weight-loss choice for all dieters. Before beginning Nutrisystem, or any other weight-management plan, talk to your doctor about the possible advantages and disadvantages.
The advertising is a little misleading and unclear. The program at a low price includes an AUTO add on shipments. That option is in very large print, the other option is the same one month program only $200 more, in SMALL print.
My appetite has gradually become accustomed to the diet. While I’m still relishing the opportunity to gnaw at a juicy and tender center cut, I rarely have the dire hunger that nearly crippled me at the outset.
Yes you lose weight, the meatless chile really had a bad effect, and all the spicy black beans and rice did a number on me too, thank “God” for Previcid. The meat loaf and mashed potatoes are gross. I’m tempted to take them to our seniors meeting for them to taste.
I spent the next couple of weeks feeling depressed and embarrassed, which I masked by eating and drinking even more. It was the middle of winter, and I was laying on the couch late one night when a Nutrisystem commercial came on TV. Dan Marino, the legendary Miami Dolphins Quarterback, was talking about how he had lost more than 20 pounds on Nutrisystem, and for some reason, his words stuck with me (see the commercial below).
I guess all diet plans have their complainers, just like most things people will always find something to complain about. But them kind of people probably complain about a lot of things. As for me, you won’t hear anything but praise for Nutrisystem cause it worked for me!
At the start of the year, Nutrisystem launched their brand new Turbo 13 program. Using this system you can lose up to 13 pounds and 7 inches during your first month on the program (it’s up to 15 pounds for men!). To get started they’ll send you a Turbo Takeoff box with your first order. This is designed to help you jump-start your weight loss, and includes a selection of foods and shakes for your first week.
Figueroa’s study examined whether the combination of a hypocaloric diet and low intensity resistance exercise can be associated with greater improvements in arterial stiffness and body composition, compared against each of the treatments on their own in overweight or obese postmenopausal women. His team studied 41 participants, each of which was assigned to one of three treatment groups: low intensity resistance exercise therapy, a hypocaloric diet, or a combination of both.
It’s because your body will try to keep itself stabilized as best it can by taking whatever calories you’re putting into it and storing them as fat. It does that so it can cope with a potential long haul of calorie restriction. In this circumstance, you need to exercise as well.
Nutrisystem offers several guides that address various issues that you may encounter while dieting. We’ve already explored the Grocery Guide, which breaks down foods into convenient categories and provides in-depth lists of which ones can safely be included. Start exploring that guide right away to familiarize yourself with the kinds of foods that can be enjoyed along with your regular fixed meals.
After you’ve picked one of the plans listed above, you will receive a full month’s worth of food right to your doorstep. I loved the convenience that Nutrisystem provided while on the diet – it really doesn’t get much easier – as long as you follow their plan, you’re pretty much guaranteed to lose weight.
