Hey Mary, it’s early days but you’ll be surprised how the weight will start dropping off over time. The water really helps things along and is so important so persevere because it’s worth it. Good luck!
maybe it just takes time, for your digestion track to get used to it. but the rest of it is ok, im not losing fast likr some people do, thats very dissapointing, when you try so hard, but im going to do 1 more month, then thats it.
When you control your calorie intake and your portions, you are on a good path to losing weight. Add the fact that your meals will likely be healthier than what you eat regularly and you implement an exercise regimen to burn even more calories, and the result should be that you attain your weight loss goals. If you can stick to the plan accordingly and only eat what is suggested through your prepared meals and allowed produce, research that has been done to support the success of the plan suggests that you will lose weight.
I did the original Nutrisystem diet in the early 90s, back when the food truly was horrible. Nevertheless, I dropped 30 pounds in just three months and even managed to keep it off for another five years after I left the diet. But nature always has the last word and my weight started to climb again, this time to 240.
How Successful is Nutrisystem? The first few weeks on Nutrisystem I lost consistently 1-2 pounds per week without reaching a plateau. Actually I continued with that trend all the way through to the end when I reached my goal. I could lose more weight now if I chose to by following the same plan. Nutrisystem really does make it easy for you. They have it all planned out and show you how to be successful when trying to lose weight.
This five-day starter box was a great start to a great program. As with any diet, the first couple days are the hardest, but the meals are packaged wonderfully and are very convenient. The five-day starter box has a variety of different food types to give an idea of the tastes. After completing my five-day starter program, I decided to order a month supply directly from Nutrisystem. This allowed me to customize the food choices I wanted for each meal and was very inexpensive as it only averaged about $8 per day!! If you have never tried Nutrisystem, I think the starter box is a great way to get introduced. However, if you try the box and like some but not all the foods, then keep going and sign up for the service on-line to customize your food. Everyone’s tastes are different so being able to customize what foods you want is a very nice feature of ordering on-line after you’ve tried the starter program. This program has taught me portion control and I’m losing weight and feeling better. I would highly recommend this program to everyone!
As you will probably read in other Nutrisystem weight loss reviews, the taste is not the only thing great about Nutrisystem foods. Each meal is individually wrapped with cooking instructions which made it easy to toss in my purse and go to work. Some of the meals are easy enough to eat while in the car. One of my favorite things about Nutrisystem foods is not having to figure out what to eat each day and since the meals are all portion controlled, it takes the guess work out of having to measure or weigh what eat, because frankly, I’m too lazy to do that.
I’ve been on Nutrisystem for 8 weeks and lost 17 lbs. I have not had success on ANY other program before I started this one. It is so easy to follow. I am eating 6 times a day and always feel satisfied. I would highly recommend it!
The first day I was starving, but after actually reading the book they sent, the addition of the smart carbs really did the trick in keeping me full (or at least not starving). What I appreciated was the option of meal bars. I am constantly on the go and may find myself working through lunch. It’s nice to be able to grab a meal in my desk
Hey Tiffany, sorry it didn’t work out for you. Are you implying my review is not honest? Maybe I left out the part where the food tastes like chemicals, cardboard or dog food or whatever else detractors like to describe it as tasting? But if I had said that, then I would certainly be dishonest.
In the early 1970s, a Philadelphia-area man named Harold Katz, then only 34 years old, decided to devise a convenient weight-loss solution after years of watching his mother struggle with obesity. Initially, Nutrisystem strictly supplied meals to brick-and-mortar centers; the first opened in the Philadelphia area. In 1999, however, the company switched to a direct-to-consumer model. Today, the system is actively sold on QVC and is available in Walmart and Costco stores. It can also be purchased directly through the website at www.nutrisystem.com.
Limitations: You pick your foods from the choices Nutrisystem offers. There are 150 foods to choose from their most extensive plan “Uniquely Yours.” You can also choose from dozens of items to buy on your own at the grocery store.
Some people are reluctant to try because it seems too much like going it alone. After all, there are no weekly meetings to attend to help to hold you accountable. Where do you turn for help? They address this, to some extent, with its informative knowledge base, which includes in-depth FAQs, articles and other resources to help you along through your weight-loss journey.
Hey Jeannie, I published it, hope you come back to read it! I don’t pass judgement on someone wanting to lose weight if they feel it’s necessary and at your weight, there’s no danger of becoming underweight with a 10-15lb loss over two months if that’s the kind of ballpark you’re aiming at. Congrats on your success so far and enjoy those parties. You’re only young once!
Arturo Figueroa, a researcher in the Florida State University College of Human Sciences, has confirmed with a team of researchers that Nutrisystem, with or without low intense resistance exercise, improves arterial function in obese, postmenopausal women.
Ordering the food and having it delivered to your door is the first part, but if you don’t end up eating it, or if you eat additional food outside of what they send you, you might have mixed results or none at all. You’ll have to stick to the portion sizes and eat according to their meal plan. You should also incorporate an exercise program if you want to get the best results.
I have just finished my sixth week on Nutrisystem. I do add all of the vegetables, I have at least one focused protein supplement, and I train in a gym 5 to 6 days a week. I am 43-year-old male, I weighed 268 when I started, and my strength was about 280 on benchpress and 295 on squat. I now weigh 248 and did 320 on bench and did a set of 5 squats with 315. I am noticeably changed… And I will be staying on this diet, for a couple more months, until I hit my goal weight of 230 and I learn how to eat right to maintain.
Unfortunately, when it comes to helping patients lose weight, many physicians don’t do much beyond nagging. If you’re lucky, yours may outline a regimen, refer you to a dietitian nutritionist or recommend a local program. If not, you’ll be on your own.
Speaking of there is plenty of evidence that Nutrisystem works. There are plenty of success stories detailed in Nutrisystem reviews online, and a few studies have been done too. Most notably, a study that was published in Postgraduate Medicine revealed that participants lost around 24 pounds after six months while the control group lost an average of just 13 pounds during the same period.
But of course, most don’t. The average customer stays on the program just 10 weeks and loses about 2 pounds per week. About one-third come back within a year, many having regained the weight. “It’s a sad thing from the consumer’s standpoint,” Hagan says candidly. “But it makes a very attractive business model.”
By sticking to the food provided to you, you can theoretically lose weight without having to give up the foods you love or spend your dieting days hungry. The meals are high in fiber and protein, and utilize more complex carbs to maintain blood sugar and prevent cravings.
They offer a 30 day guarantee, and you can just stop. They have been criticized in the past for food that does not taste good or tastes bland, and they seem to be working to address this issue. As we get more feedback we will update this post. One thing to point out is that they are selling $700 million worth of their meals each year, which means there are a lot of people doing this. They offer a pretty compelling value proposition- you don’t spend much more than you already would and it is convenient.
Nutrisystem also has more than 150 foods, many of which are “every day” foods. Jenny Craig has about 80 items to choose from, many of which aren’t “every day” foods. Jenny Craig is also much more expensive all the way around. They require a membership fee and charge for delivery in most cases, while Nutrisystem doesn’t. They also don’t offer a risk-free guarantee, while Nutrisystem does.
