My biggest beef with Nutrisystem is the lack of quality ingredients. The food you get from them have processed components. The best way to lose weight is to cook your food from scratch. You won’t mindlessly snack if everything has to be made from scratch. Skip fad diets like this and take control yourself.
Hi Kris – congrats on signing up – while results will vary for everyone, I truly believe that you will lose a lot of weight if you follow the program – so stick with it, and let us know how it goes. Best of luck with your weight loss- we’re pulling for you :-).
If you think about how much money you spend on food in 1 month, especially if you eat out a lot, the cost isn’t that much higher than what you’d pay anyway. If you really want to try it (like I do); save a little bit of money and go for it. I mean you can buy a whole bag of apples, a head of lettuce, and a bag of carrots for less than $10 and it’d last about a week. That’s just a little more than the average person spends on a fast food meal and that only lasts for that one meal.
I was just reading the comment by Toni and it mirrors my own experience with my husband. We’ve been going with nutrisystem for 3 weeks and he lost 11 lbs to my 9 lbs so far. We both like the food and I was surprised at how good it really is after reading some people don’t like it and some even hate it. It takes all I guess. We’re planning to continue for the second month and if we’re still doing this good after that, we’re on for a third!
As with any major change to your diet, application of a new diet plan, or exercise regimen, you should seek the advice of your doctor. This is especially true if you are on medication or have preexisting health conditions. If you are pregnant or nursing, you should not implement this plan.
#1…the food is not bad tasting, however it is low calories and the portion sizes are SMALL! Meaning, in order to not stay hungry all day, you will have to add more foods other then veggies and fruits. They actually say you need 3 power fuels, 2 smart carbs, 4 servings of veggies and so on to feel full. Means you buying a ton of groceries on the side! In addition to low fat or fat free milk for cereal and everything has to be wheat, low fat or fat free, and if family doesn’t eat that…it’s extra groceries. It adds up fast!
In weight loss, protein is important for giving your body the ability to put on lean muscle using the amino acids found in it. More lean muscle means more calories burned, even when you are not trying. You also burn more calories digesting them because it takes more for your body to metabolize and use them. Because it takes longer for them to work through your system, you will feel fuller for longer, meaning a less voracious appetite.
It is my really initial time that i have a check out this web page. I ran across quite a number of fascinating stuff in your site most undoubtedly this web page. In the quite a few responses on your content articles, I assume I’m not the only one particular owning all of the pleasure appropriate below!
Hey Mary, its best not to worry over a temporary stall. The more you stress over it the harder to will seem to get back on track. So many people quit when they hit a plateau when they should’ve persevered and gone past it to success!
As I’ve shared in detail over the past several years, I’ve always struggled with my weight, even as a child. Although I was extremely active growing up, playing three sports, I always had a problem with weight. Having just turned 40 I knew if I didn’t make a change it likely wasn’t going to ever happen.
I am now 52 years old & used the Nutrisystem diet when I was about 19 years old. After reading these reviews, I see nothing has changed….back then the food was so bad that I stopped eating it, it tasted like cardboard! I went from 125lbs to 90lbs! Save yourself & your money!
I can’t believe I’m really doing this. But I knew for a while I got to lose about 30 pounds, probably more. But I decided 30 pounds is a good target to shoot for. So wish me luck peeps, I’m going for it!
What about a Nutrisystem money-back guarantee? Well, the official website does say that you have a 14-day money-back guarantee that applies to first time orders. This means the first time you buy the 4-week plan; you can get a refund within the first 14 days if unsatisfied. The plans listed for this guarantee include the following:
Nutrisystem has established itself as the best meal delivery diet program on the planet, but does it really work? I have tried the diet multiple times now, and I can confirm that it does, in fact, produce amazing weight loss results if you follow their plan correctly and stay committed to the program.
I ordered the nutrisystem 1 month trial to help lose some weight I gained after a leg injury. The food was horrible. After two solid weeks of eating it, I felt like my body was poisoned by all of the preservatives. I felt horrible. Food is NOT fresh, mostly pasta in small sizes. TONS of sodium. Food looks nothing like adds- it’s packaged and full of preservatives. I can buy all of the foods and make fresh foods from the grocery for cheaper. Also had a hard time understanding how many calories I should be eating with the program as I got the same lump shipment of food as everyone else (I’m only 5’0 female and the plan was having me eat 2000 or more calories!) Overall a horrible waste of money and now I’m stuck with terrible tasting food (including desserts)that I can’t seen to give away! Save your money and go to the grocery store!
NutriSystem has tapped into the mindset of the constant dieter. Not many want to spend time in group therapy or even be counseled one-on-one. Counselors are available by phone or online chat, but less than 20% of clients use them. Most seek support on the message boards of the company’s Web site. Dieters on portion-control plans like NutriSystem’s lose 5% of body weight after one year if they stick to it, according to many studies.
I know I’m only supposed to weigh myself like at the end of the week, but I couldn’t help myself and I got a shock. Four pounds lost in 3 days. That’s crazy! But I’m not complaining, no way… this rocks!
“I dove head first into this diet, only breaking from it once, and briefly, to celebrate at a birthday party which I helped plan. In total, I lost 13 pounds. In a 28-day period, that’s fantastic and it has felt great having people ask me if I’ve lost weight,” Enoch reported at the end of the 28 days.
Nutrisystem programs, especially the Lean 13 program, are designed to bring clients serious results in a short period of time. If you follow the directions that they provide you on Lean 13, for example, you can expect significant weight loss within the first week of the program. Of course, these are not the limitations of the program. It is important to note that Nutrisystem does not guarantee results of any type, but it does offer money back in certain cases, such as late or broken products. Nutrisystem advertises that its plans are laid forth with advice from medical professionals, and that they have millions of clients with success stories, including celebrities and professional athletes. However, every body type is different. You may experience less or more depending on your natural metabolism, your previous diet and your lifestyle. The majority of your success will come from following directions set forth within the program that you choose.
The process starts when you sign up to one of their many plans (which provide the framework for your weight loss). There are plans for people of all shapes, sizes, and genders, which allows you to be reasonably specific with your needs.
Vegetarians and vegans: Vegetarians on the 5 & 1 Plan should avoid high-carb legumes (peas, beans, and lentils) until reaching their goal weight. The plan is trickier for vegans, since many of the meal replacements are made with dairy or eggs.
Our favorite for value and efficacy is Weight Watchers, designed to help you change your eating habits for good. Nutrisystem is the least expensive meal delivery plan we reviewed (Medifast is cheaper, but you have to provide one meal a day on your own). And the silver-spoon award undoubtedly goes to In The Zone Delivery, a white-glove service for people who’ll spare no expense to drop the pounds.
I started on nutrisystem 2 weeks ago and I am so happy with the program. I’m pretty disturbed that there are some people that post comments telling others not to try it!! What do you have to lose?? This is the first time in my life I have been able to lose weight, while eating and being usually satisfied.
For help identifying in which category your favorite foods belong, check out the Nutrisystem Grocery Guide. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, give one of our counselors a call at 1-800-585-5483 between the hours of 7 a.m. and midnight—they’re standing by to help!
That said, some of the most common bad Nutrisystem reviews revolve around the difficulty of the system. Basically, people can’t customize their orders according to their taste. Even though the option is there, they can’t make it work for them.
Every 28 days, your NutriSystem meals are delivered to your door. All of the meals now contain omega-3 fatty acids and soluble fiber to help promote heart health and regular digestion. The meals do not require refrigeration and can be heated up in just a few minutes by a microwave. You will also purchase a few grocery-store food items like fresh fruits and vegetables.
Thank you for the review. Since you are still a current employee, I would encourage you to share your specific feedback with your supervisor or a member of the HR team to ensure we are aware of the challenges as well as some ways that we can improve to make things even better…. MoreLess
Not a problem Renee, happy to share. Sorry to hear about your ups and downs – I’ve dealt with that most of my life. What I do now is stay as active as can be. I exercise six times a week, taking a weekend day off and do a combination of cardio & strength. I also have a standing desk now so I cut down on a lot of the sitting that I have working from home. I combine all that with keeping my portion sizes down, not much more than what I was eating while on the program. If I can keep snack-y type foods out of the house I can usually do fairly well. Best wishes on your continued weight loss!
Hey Linda, 7 pounds in 7 days is pretty amazing, congrats! I think most people are thinking they could just as easily go prepare and cook their own meals, but you’re right that unless they have detailed nutritional knowledge and accurate measuring/weighing equipment in their kitchen, they’re going to be hard pressed to match the diet meals provided by Nutrisystem, even though what they make themselves will almost certainly taste better, but be higher in calories.
As you will probably read in other Nutrisystem weight loss reviews, the taste is not the only thing great about Nutrisystem foods. Each meal is individually wrapped with cooking instructions which made it easy to toss in my purse and go to work. Some of the meals are easy enough to eat while in the car. One of my favorite things about Nutrisystem foods is not having to figure out what to eat each day and since the meals are all portion controlled, it takes the guess work out of having to measure or weigh what eat, because frankly, I’m too lazy to do that.
Lose 18 pounds in 12 weeks? That’s what Right Size claims on its website: “Even if you have only a few minutes to eat, you’ll have enough time to shake up one of our smoothies. Simply replace your current breakfast and lunch with our easy-to-make smoothies and you can expect to lose up to 18 lbs. in 12 weeks.*”

I am a 47 year old female. I have gained 50 lbs since turning 40! I have tried dieting, but wind up sick to death of grilled chicken and salad after a month! Counting calories stinks. I’ve been on nutrisysyem for 3 weeks. I go to jazzercize 3 times a week. I do no other exercise. I have lost 7 pounds. I love all the frozen meals. Some of the other is Yuck. I adjusted my order next time. It is so convenient. I eat almonds for my snack in the morning. I eat string cheese in the afternoon. I take fresh broccoli in my lunch, and I eat a HUGE salad with dinner. I am only slightly hungry when I go to bed at night, but Never during the day. I do not agree with people saying it doesn’t teach you how to get off of it. I have learned so much about portion control. I will never eat fried foods again. I love the deserts. Some complaine they are small. I’d rather have something than nothing because I am going to eat something sweet! I heard someone say the chocolate was an inch long. I don’t know what this person was eating, but nothing I got was that small. The ice cream bars are normal size, and Yum! I will stay on this diet until I’ve lost this 50 lbs! Oh I’m writing a lot down, including calories And measurements of everything, do when I’m off it, I can continue same ideA on my own! 🙂
If I may offer some advice: following a vegetarian diet that you prepare at home and avoiding all processed foods (and drinks) that contain high levels of sugars (especially “high fructose corn syrup”–HFCS) can result in successful loss of excess weight that is sustainable and maintainable in the long term. I know that it can take some will power to follow a stricter eating regime, but when you firmly decide for yourself that you will do it because you want to do it, you can surprise yourself at what you are capable of!
