Finally, Nutrisystem also offers a very useful Eating Out Guide. In general, you should only dine out very occasionally. When you do, use the guide to make smart choices. It is incredibly thorough and includes a number of tips and tricks for sticking to your diet while dining out. There is even a section, Pick This, Not That, that highlights sensible choices by cuisine. If you feel like Indian takeout, consult your guide first to ensure that you order something suitable.
I am a mother of 1 older child still at home. I started the Atkins diet, using the meal replacement bars, then a dinner on Atkins diet home cooked. While I didn’t lose much weight, it kicked off my dependence on carbs. I might suggest anyone that is having troubles going cold turkey off sugar and junk food, to try Atkins first. I chose the diabetic option on NS. While not diabetic, I didn’t feel the need to feed my carb monster any more than I had to. The atkins diet got rid of most of the fiber problem ahead of time, so no gassiness or tummy problems.
I allowed for two final snacks to finish my night a zesty Chex Mix rendition and about a dozen peanuts. The NutriSystem Zesty Herb Mix did absolutely nothing for me, forcing me to have my peanuts much earlier than I planned. Luckily, the peanuts, combined with about three glasses of water, held me over the rest of the night.
The first morning I grabbed my cup of coffee and sat down to a tiny little Nutrisystem muffin and a glass of fusion energy juice. I was hungry all day. I failed to follow the Instructions where it said I’m supposed to add healthy snacks between each meal along with four servings of vegetables. Nutrisystem labels snacks as either Power Fuels or Smart Carbs. The kit included a list of this type of foods and servings allowed for each. After reading the Nutrisystem diet guidelines I really felt like I was going to eat too much. I mean, I didn’t eat this much when I was not on a diet. The truth is, I was eating the wrong things to achieve any positive results.

Since I began the Nutrisystem men’s basic plan I have been losing weight and feeling great. I have not felt this energetic in awhile. I now have the energy to get through the day without feeling so tired. I even have enough energy to work out.
Thanks to Nutrisystem, I’m down 12 lbs in one month! I love having my nightly dessert. I love eating a many times during the day. And for me, my main problem was not calories, but not eating anything until the end of the day. (Figured if I started later in the day I’d eat less overall). And it wasn’t convenient to fix a meal while working. Being task-oriented I’d just keep working and skip breakfast and usually lunch.
One of the biggest advantages with Nutrisystem meal replacement diet program is that it has been designed for those people who want to get back in shape but don’t really have the time or inclination to be spending too much time in their kitchen!
Wow!! There’s nothing worse than reviews without the honesty! I have dieted all of my life and it’s always been an extra 20 lbs needed to maintain a good weight. I have tried everything..juicing, pills, workout programs, cleansing, starving, Jenny Craig, and Weight Watchers. The most sucess was with good old fashion will power. I finally caved, although my sister told me she hated the Nutrisystem diet, and signed up. The food tastes like chemicals, I was constantly hungry, it’s dry and tasteless and cardboard would probably taste better! I felt sharp pains in my stomach and my liver enzyme count actually elevated after only three weeks on this diet! I was moody and not losing a pound yet continued to research the Nutrisystem blogs to see if I was doing anything wrong! I was not! I followed this diet to the letter! I do not recommend this diet for anyone!! I was scared to even let my dog taste it! Save your money and find another diet!
I am now 52 years old & used the Nutrisystem diet when I was about 19 years old. After reading these reviews, I see nothing has changed….back then the food was so bad that I stopped eating it, it tasted like cardboard! I went from 125lbs to 90lbs! Save yourself & your money!
I, too used Nutrisystem to lose weight and had enormous success with it. In January of 2013, I started a 3 days a week, bootcamp style class at my gym. Hard workouts. I paid $400 for the class, and at the end of 2 months I had lost a whopping 2 pounds. My pants didn’t fit better, either.
One last point: If you do wish to cancel, you MUST do it done by phone (the phone number is clearly printed on the home page of the official website). You cannot cancel via the website. That’s just a heads up!
First, I LOVE Nutrisystem and have been making a regular log and posts about the food and my journey on it. It’s really neat and really easy to use. I’d definitely recommend it. As far as the system goes, it’s awesome.
Both my husband and I did Nutrisystem for 2 months. I wanted to lose weight and he did it in solidarity – He lost 15 pounds and I can no longer fit into my jeans. Really, I am wider and a few pounds heavier than I was only 2 months ago. Perhaps it’s because my issue was not eating junk or over eating; Mine was not eating enough and I thought by spending the money on the food I would be more inclined to eat properly in regular intervals. I had, like all of us, seen those commercials where overweight women looked so amazing after doing Nutrisystem so you can imagine my dismay when my own body took a turn for the worse after trying it. As an fyi: I also stepped up my activity and had no problem with the food itself in terms of taste. We live within walking distance of an organic produce store so we had lots of fresh stuff to dress the food up with. Good luck to those who give it a shot – it did not work for me, but that certainly doesn’t mean it won’t for you.
If you live with other people, this won’t be a big deal at all—you’re going to have this stuff around anyway. That’s sort of what I did. I grocery shopped for our house at about half the amount I used to, making sure there was some fruit, veggies, and almond milk available for me to use. I actually skipped some of the additions to meals, because I found it easier to just eat the prepared meal. For me, it was enough food—especially for lunch. That freed me up to have an occasional drink, diet soda, half a bagel, or snack at a party.

Each day I made sure to drink at least 64 oz of water and light exercise, which usually included twenty minutes of hula hooping. With the help of my Fitbit, I made a goal to get in at least 9000 steps in per day. I used the MyfitnessPal app to keep a log of my daily food and calorie intake. Here I was able to make other friends from a Nutrisystem support group who were reaching for the same goals. We motivated each other as we shared our food diaries and our Nutrisystem diet reviews, and commented each other on achievements and upsets. It’s a fun way to stay on track.
This may sound obvious, but I know a lot of folks are probably wondering if Nutrisystem actually works. The answer is YES – if you follow the program as they designed it. That means, sticking to their meal plan for however long it takes to reach your weight loss goals.

I’ve been on it 4.5 weeks and am down over 13 lbs. You have to remember folks, they do send entrees and you have to supplement with fruits and vegetables. If you eat the food properly and supplement, your metabolism will increase. Exercise and water are also a huge key in this equation. With exercise, water, the appropriate fruits and veggies along with the NS food – you’ll be on your way. I feel better and lighter and importantly, not bloated from crap. I am not hungry and always look forward to my meal times. I agree with having good salads with low or no calorie dressing – that is a great snack. I have another 40 to go and I’m excited to get this done by summer. Hey, it isn’t 4 star food – you have to remember this – however, IT WORKS – you have to follow the equation. And afterward, its ok that I ate the food, I’m going to get the results. I’m off to my elliptical machine now – bye all – successes to you!
hi, I am on day 7 of the NS plan. I have tried a few other diets but have never paid for a diet before. Well I have 2lbs and it isn’t the flux of the day. I weigh myself in the mornings before I eat with nothing on. Only in the mornings because that way you get the right readings. Some of the meals are nasty. The pea soup, the alfredo noodle lunch meal, and etc. The frozen are very good. Don’t like dessert. I am not one for snacks. I prefer the dry snacks over the frozen though. But this is really helping me. NS is all about portion control. It’s a 1200 calorie diet for people who won’t want to count the calories themselves. It takes all the guesswork out. Next week, I am adding some exercise into my routine so I can lose more weight.
The weekends were challenging as we chose to go out to our favorite restaurants. I ordered off the Lite menu or A La Carte. The hardest part was avoiding the chips and dip at the Mexican restaurant. This usually resulted in me actually sitting on my hands. Yes the struggle was real here.
I should also point out to get this pricing you do need to agree to a recurring monthly shipment. That was the route I took, but can see how you might not want that. They offer weekly plans at a slightly higher price. You can go that route at first to see if you can manage it, then move up to the monthly plan.
