Additionally, you’ll need to reheat the foods that they send you. The food has been prepared previously, and then frozen. If you put these frozen foods into the microwave and nuke them you are further sapping any sort of nutrients or beneficial qualities from them. What’s left by the time it hits your plate is a meal that may have been healthy at the time it was prepared, but after being frozen and zapped it’s now just fodder, devoid of any food-like substances.

Horrible stuff! I’m so swollen and bloated! Started two weeks ago and have horrible pains I abdomen and back. It’s a going in the garbage as I can’t return it! My bidy is screaming for real food…fresh food!

Note: By accepting a “first month discount” or “free shipping,” you automatically agree to the terms, which is to accept at least two month’s supplies of meals, or two deliveries before you can cancel. If you try to cancel before the second shipment is sent to you, the company will still charge your credit card for the second month. For the majority of customers, this is not a problem because they generally intend to stay on the diet for two months or longer. That’s important to get the full benefit of the diet and achieve the level of weight loss they want.

I have been on Ntrisystem now for 11 days. The first week I was hungry but I expected that. If you expect to lose weight you will have to cut down the number of calories you consume. I know I was consuming way to many.

Reviewed by Christine Mikstas, RD, LD in early 2017 for WebMD, the conclusion was simple: it’s an easy, time-saving diet in that the meals are made for you and delivered to your door. So convenience. But, as Mikstas points out, it’s costly and limiting if you like eating out. “The real question is whether you can continue to lose weight or maintain your weight when you are no longer relying on the prepackaged foods.” [6]

Among the best products we’ve seen is Burn HD. We like that each of the four ingredients have clinical testing showing a direct, or indirect, benefit to people losing weight. It’s also satisfying to see all the positive user reviews.

We are fairly busy with working full time and the commute.  Being busy and working so much led to eating a lot of fast food.  We almost always got something from a drive thru on the way home from work.  After getting home neither of us really felt like cooking something for dinner.  So we took the easy way out and got something that was bad for us instead of preparing a healthy meal.  I also ordered a fattening lunch most days too.  I would just take the easy way out and not worry about the effects it was having on my weight and health.

The Nutrisystem website also provides me with access to a counselor who is available 24 hours a day to chat with if I have any questions. I highly recommend the Nutrisystem men’s basic plan. It’s working for me and I know it will work for you too. Now if I can only get my wife on it. I need more support!

The biggest thing to think about is the future, and what is going to happen when you lose the weight. Nutrisystem goes by calories and the glycemic index; if you don’t understand how these two correlate with weight loss, there is a great chance you will gain the weight back.

1. Super convenient. I have a family of 8 children and I homeschool. I am busy, busy, busy! Right now, we are in a crisis as one of my children is battling cancer. I spend so much of my time taking him to doctor appointments and being in the hospital. I was always overweight by about 20 pounds, but have gained an additional 10 from sitting in hospitals and stress eating. I just began the program and have lost 8 pounds. This program has made it easy for me to eat healthy amidst a crazy busy life.

As you can see, you’re eating throughout the day. You will be hungry many times, but that’s the point. You don’t eat to be full. You eat to be satisfied. Thus, the portion sizing I mentioned earlier. I will also point out that as I got closer to my goal I cut fruit and the protein at lunch to cut down on the calories.

Hi Cindy – Thanks for visiting, and happy to hear the pricing info helped! I think 5 to 10 pounds is totally doable, especially if you commit to the full 2 months! Remember, Nutrisystem does offer counselors to help keep you on track, and as long as you stick to the program, you should see a significant amount of weight loss during that time period! It’s important to have steps in place once you’re done using Nutrisystem, so I like to encourage people to have a plan in place once they’ve achieved their weight loss goals, and are ready to transition off the program. That has definitely been a key to success for me over the years. In any case, best of luck – let us know how it goes!

I have to echo what other posters have said. I’m not going to say I *never* feel hungry on this diet, just that the munchies are much more subdued than they were when I was skipping breakfast and lunch to lose weight (bad idea). I also have to say that three days into this diet and I already feel like I have more energy, probably because I’m eating through the day and not skipping meals, and my muscles aren’t protesting all the crap I was eating before.

The plan works by refocusing eating habits around healthy, home-delivered portion-controlled meals that contain balanced proportions of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Although Nutrisystem’s nutritionists offer predetermined meal plans designed for men or women, subscribers can also answer a few quick questions to create a personalized diet plan tailored to their specific metabolism. Whether you choose a predetermined plan or a customized menu, don’t forget to browse Nutrisystem coupons and discounts, found here at Groupon Coupons, for additional savings on your healthy new diet.

The plan works because the portions are small and because, if you follow it, you are not hungry. The drawbacks are it is expensive, the food gets tiresome over the long haul and you need a lot of add-ins from the grocery store. However, it has been the easiest way I have found to lose weight without feeling neglected and, over time, your body gets used to the smaller portions.

Hi Barb! I was curious at its overall effectiveness because it seemed way too “easy” to do because of the major celebrity endorsement. I also think being restricted to only their foods would make it difficult if they weren’t delicious to begin with.

Congestive heart failure (CHF) refers to a condition in which the heart loses the ability to function properly. Heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, myocarditis, and cardiomyopathies are just a few potential causes of congestive heart failure. Signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure may include fatigue, breathlessness, palpitations, angina, and edema. Physical examination, patient history, blood tests, and imaging tests are used to diagnose congestive heart failure. Treatment of heart failure consists of lifestyle modification and taking medications to decrease fluid in the body and ease the strain on the heart. The prognosis of a patient with congestive heart failure depends on the stage of the heart failure and the overall condition of the individual.

Well, i hve only been on nutrisystem for oe week i finished it tonight. The oly meal I could eat without gettingsick was any meal tat was jut a little chocolat bar. and even then it wasnt filling. Ths plan is not quick and easy, unless you are countng calories and adding t very meal you are not getting proper nurtition at a minimum we shold eat 1000 clories a ay and you eat near 700 on a good dy some times 500 if you were to add anything. busy o the g people in a hurr are not gingto be satisfied with the lack of food. just poping in a persrvitave filled dish into te microwave wont do anything to fullfill your hunger. It maks me gassy sick t my stomach and have irregular bowel movements. Nutrisystem is a NO GO!

When you sign up for Nutrisystem, it’s important to go into it with the right mindset: If you’re expecting 5-star cuisine, then this probably isn’t the diet for you. But, if you’re realistic with your expectations, the food actually tastes pretty darn good.

Finally, Nutrisystem also offers a very useful Eating Out Guide. In general, you should only dine out very occasionally. When you do, use the guide to make smart choices. It is incredibly thorough and includes a number of tips and tricks for sticking to your diet while dining out. There is even a section, Pick This, Not That, that highlights sensible choices by cuisine. If you feel like Indian takeout, consult your guide first ensure that you order something suitable.

In the past 5 years I have gained almost 30 lbs due to hypothyroidism, which has caused depression and isolation. I live alone. Because I am self employed. I go out to do my work and return home immediately. My social life consists of babysitting my grandchildren. I’ve done pills, supplements, plexus (which can be just as expensive if you buy all the different parts). I joined weight watchers. Then I just said..I’m done with all that nonsense and joined nutrisystem. When I set my mind to something I follow through. I do not cook for myself very often. When I do it is usually something quick that has too many carbs. Plus I would only eat at night time. I don’t understand what people are saying about the high sodium. If I have too much sodium. I swell up like a balloon. The key is to drink enough water to counteract the sodium. I’m a very picky eater. I find the food very good. So, instead of eating 1 meal at the end of the day, my meals are picked out for me. I am eating 6 times a day. Yes the first week is hard. It is on anything you do. What makes us fat in the first place is eating all the yummy foods that are loaded with fat, carbs, sugar and other harmful things. Of course this isn’t going to taste like that. Someone said the muffins are so small, yet have 150 calories. Do you know that a muffin you buy at the grocery store has around 500-600 calories per muffin? If you are complaining, you must not be ready to make a lifestyle change. I am pleased that everything is marked. I can grab and go.

OK, Nutrisystem is not the perfect diet, by any stretch of the imagination, I’ll grant you. But it’s a good way to get started for many folks that don’t want to go counting calories or see a dietitian. Their small, nutritionally balanced meals teach your body to get used to eating smaller meals and to stop eating junk.

I joined Nutrisystem two and a half months ago. When I first started the program it was an adjustment I had to get used to. I was used to overeating all of the time. With Nutrisystem the food portions are designed to be just right so a person gets the nutrition he needs and still loses weight. I had to get used to eating the right sized portion instead of overeating. Once I adjusted to eating differently the plan started to really work.

Hi Pete – the frozen food is an additional charge, but can be included in your 4-week order or as an ala carte item. If you check out the costs the frozen options don’t cost that much more and are definitely worth mixing in, in my opinion.

The most common complaints of Nutrisystem Lean 13 is that the portions are small and they still feel hungry after eating their meals. They also complain about food allergies and a lack of variety in their meals.

I started Nutrisystem on 12/31/16 and so far, have lost 15 pounds, and have dropped a complete size. I am never hungry, the food is delicious, and I plan on staying on it until I lose 50 lbs. and keep it off for one year. As far as price goes, the reason most people see it as pricey is because you are paying for a month’s worth of food in one payment. Nobody, at least that I know of, spends $350.00 a month on the majority of their groceries for one person. I went through 90 days of spend (Oct, Nov, and Dec) for the food I purchased at grocery stores and restaurants and compared it with the cost of NS. It came to about $30.00 less with NS. Now, since I’ve been on it for 6 weeks, I’ve only eaten at a restaurant one time. I’m not buying junk food and with the addition of fruits, veggies, and proteins, I still come out way under what I was spending before NS — in other words, I’m saving money. Regarding the gas/bloat issue. This is not specific to NS. Any time you introduce a good amount of fiber into the body, it causes gas and bloating, so please folks, don’t blame this on NS. I always chuckle at reviews because they are nothing more than an opinion based on personal experience. As far as food portions, again, I laugh, because in reading the reviews about portion size on NS (on other sites), I see so many complaining about the portion size being too small. Um, people? We are trying to lose weight and retrain ourselves to eat ‘normal’ portion sizes. I hear complaints about people needing to salt the food as well. Again, people, we are and should be cutting way back on sodium. We live in a self-indulgent, “I want it my way”, culture of whining babies. You want to lose weight? Stop eating so much and choosing the wrong foods. Nutrisystem is amazingly convenient for those of us who do not want to spend a lot of time prepping food. The food is delicious, lots to choose from and it’s priced reasonably. I highly recommend it. Well, so does Marie Osmond. Good luck to anyone on the program. It certainly is working for me.

In fact, looking around at the many ads for diet programs and realizing the many amazing possibilities that are available to you, it’s hard to see how anyone would not want to make life easy for themseves.

I found the meal planner and daily diary easy to use, and the online diary and the tracker helps me to keep to my plan. I don’t have to count anything: no points or calories at all, which makes this the easiest diet I have ever been on. I don’t have to get embarrassed by going to meetings, because the meals come straight to my house every month. I love fruit, and the fact I can add it to my meals makes this a great way to get rid of the sugar shakes, where I really want the sugar and have to tell myself no.

It’s still a low-cal diet with its own line of packaged foods, but today’s NutriSystem plan is different from what it was 10, 20, or 30 years ago. These days, the emphasis is on choosing “good carbs” over bad ones, using a ranking system called the glycemic index (G.I.) as a guide. Another change: Rather than driving to weight-loss centers in strip malls for face-to-face advice, dieters chat with counselors and order foods online. The same program is also outlined in the book NutriSystem Nourish: The Revolutionary New Weight-Loss Program (John Wiley & Sons, 2004). Variations are available for women, men, vegetarians, and people with type 2 diabetes.

Hey Marion, sounds like you got a bad deal there, but I don’t know why you hated this so much. I also tried the Sliver plan a couple months ago and found the food okay. Sure, it wasn’t wonderful, but not so bad I wanted to stop eating it. I got through and lost weight. Maybe my stomach is better tuned into spicy food as I actually like to eat Mexican dishes — part of the reason I got overweight in the first place! And the pizza wasn’t like you describe. You sure you didn’t overcook it?

And lastly you won’t be getting any health benefits when all three of your meals are frozen and then microwaved. You’ll basically be giving your digestive system lumps of what looks like food, but is actually just filler.

Sorry I missed reporting…I’ve made it into August. I’m doing the plan, I’m exercising, eating the food ect. But from8/1 til today nothing. Scale is not moving. I called in and got some instructions, but not too say, I’m feeling little down. I was down and went up 1 lb. Now its not moving. Yikes, this part is frustrating. Any ideas????

I’ve done a 1,200 calorie diet before on my own and was successful, but was always hungry and ended up gaining the weight back because I literally counted every calorie, including my vegetables. What I like about NS is that they give you a set calorie count to stick to (mine is 1,200 PD), but your non-starchy vegetables are unlimited. This keeps me satiated throughout the day and allows me to go about my day without being hungry, tried and dizzy. I’m also able to do my workouts 5-6 days a week with full energy.

Vegetarians and vegans: Vegetarians on the 5 & 1 Plan should avoid high-carb legumes (peas, beans, and lentils) until reaching their goal weight. The plan is trickier for vegans, since many of the meal replacements are made with dairy or eggs.

  1. I am anxiously waiting for my shipment to arrive! It should be here this week. Last year I tried beachbody and the shakes. I found out that I am NOT a meal replacement gal….I need to eat, for whatever reason. I need a good “kick start” and am optimistic the NS will do it! Loved reading your story and comments, thanks!
