I have been on Nutrisystem for 6 months and I have lost just over 35 lbs. I also joined a local gym and have a personal trainer (which of course helps). My goal is to look as good as the day I graduated from High School when I go to my 50th class reunion in 2010. By the way, I already think I look better than the day I graduated! I know, wishful thinking, right? 😉 I just wish the meals were organic, but there are no organic weight loss plans out there.
Experts like the University of Chicago Medical Center’s director of preventative cardiology, Dr. Michael Davidson, say that Nutrisystem is not a diet that will help you prevent or manage heart disease. Following the plan can be prohibitively expensive for some dieters, and eating out at restaurants or social gatherings can be almost impossible. If your family members aren’t also on Nutrisystem, it can be tough to prepare food for them that you’re not allowed to eat. There are no kosher, vegan or gluten-free plans available. Although exercise is encouraged, Diet.com reports that critics of Nutrisystem caution that by not emphasizing physical activity more, the plan does not set followers up for long-term, sustainable weight loss.
The foof for me was OK. The non frozen dinners were not very good. I am totally with you Pam on the deducting money!!! They were very smug about and insisted they did nothing wrong! It is a “process” to get your money back!!
As of 2014 evidence was lacking that Nutrisystem products help with long-term weight loss; there was tentative evidence that at three months it resulted in 3.8% more weight loss than a control group. Reviews of the Nutrisystem program criticize the company’s approach as not conducive to long-term weight control and expensive.
When you purchase the first month of meals via the official website, there is usually the offer of a money-off deal or free shipping which sounds great. This automatically signs you up for “Auto-Delivery” which means you’ll get subsequent packages of food shipped to your home without you needing to do anything.
If you have watched any television lately you have probably seen a sports celebrity advertising the benefits of the Nutrisystem weight-loss system. This program was once based in nationwide weight-loss centers; now you order your meals over the Internet and they are delivered to your home.
Starting day 5 on fast five plan. Day 4 was terrible with constant stomach pain, not gas pain. The pain was present most of the day and through the night and I’m still uncomfortable this morning. Did not vary from the plan at all so far. I’m 68, 5′-9″, 171 lbs. Accumulate fat from chest to pelvis, man boobs, muffin top. Pre N.S. diet was fairly healthy, no packaged meals, mostly homemade, just guilty of overeating and eating late. Now I’m concerned about this stomach pain and wondering if I should continue with this diet.
The food tastes incredible, which is what I like most about it. I love not having to count carbohydrates, which is what I’ve spent years doing and it has never worked. I can see how Nutrisystem could really help me with portion control and teach me good eating habits for years to come.

One last thing: While every circumstance is different, in general I do not recommend trying to lose weight when you do not need to. If you’re out of shape and want your body to look better, the best advice is to get physical and tone up through exercise if the scales are telling you that you’re at your correct weight. This will force your body to release those calories before it can store them up, while strengthening your muscles and sculpting your body to appear slimmer.
I know its drastic and tough to do, but if you’re really stuck, its an option. I’m only suggesting it because you sound desperate–it really is a last resort that you should consider very carefully before trying. Never fast for more than one day.
Anyway. I would never go so far as to tell folks not to try any diet, cause what works for some don’t work for others so you are wrong to try and ram your opinions down people’s throats like that. Fair play to the author for even publishing your whiny complaint!
The advertising is a little misleading and unclear. The program at a low price includes an AUTO add on shipments. That option is in very large print, the other option is the same one month program only $200 more, in SMALL print.
That’s a total of 34lbs in 3.5 months. I was thinking about quitting the first month–I’m so glad I didn’t. I read a lot of comments here and most are pretty positive about it. Some are not so positive and a few are downright caustic in their opinions.
To get it in the right perspective, all you need to do is look at the total price you’re paying for the diet. Then deduct from that what you’d normally spend on the total amount of food you would eat for 28 days.
My biggest beef with Nutrisystem is the lack of ingredients. The food you get from them have processed components. The best way to lose weight is to cook your food from scratch. You won’t mindlessly snack if everything has to be made from scratch. Skip fad diets like this and take control yourself.
I have purchased this packet for 3 weeks. I have followed it almost to the letter. There have been a few slip ups and I have swapped out a vegetable they recommend for one I love. I have lost 18.5 lbs. That is also buying it, using it for 5 days then my own food for 2 days then back on for the next 5, etc. I am pleased with the food. Very surprised. The only one I could live without and am not too fond of is the chicken alfredo. I do add a tad bit of garlic powder to it and that makes a world of difference. The rest of the food is pretty darn good. I’m so thrilled with my overall outcome of this sample packet, I’m biting the bullet and joining NutriSystem next week. Good luck to everyone. I know what a battle this is and I’m excited about this. Thanks WalMart and NutriSystem for giving us the opportunity to try it before we buy it. 🙂
I love the way the food tastes. I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything! Pasta, chocolate, muffins, mashed potatoes! You name it, I can eat it! The choices are amazing. Every entrée tastes so different that I never get sick of eating the same thing. The Red Beans and Rice with Sausage is so good! It tastes like my grandma’s! The chocolate choices are outstanding as well. The peppermint cookie patty is to die for!
Whether you are a guy or woman, you could take pleasure in a tasty Nutrisystem meal. With 120+ preservative-free foods, dish strategies with less than 2,300 mg of salt, as well as no trans fat alternatives, you’ll just consume just what you need to be eating.
The reason Nutrisystem is successful is because the company takes all of the hard work out of dieting: they send you virtually everything you need in order to diet. You eat the food, and you start losing weight quickly. It’s that simple.
Following the Turbo Takeoff plan should help your body adjust to Nutrisystem diet plan, while also getting your weight loss kicked into high gear. Follow the detailed plan that is included, and you should lose a decent amount of weight during your first week on the program.
The vast majority of research regarding losing weight has shown that when it comes to losing weight for the long haul, you have to be willing to move at least a little. While Nutrisystem has no formal exercise plan, per se, the company does provide tools that make it easier to track your exercise habits as well as workout recommendations based on your fitness level and weight-loss goals. They recommends 30 minutes of exercise per day and points out that the 30 minutes can be broken up into three 10-minute sessions. Even something simple like walking counts, so meeting this daily goal is a lot easier than you probably think.
The low-priced plan is called the “basic plan.” Currently priced at just $9.82 per day, this is a great plan for those looking to really jump start their weight loss in an easy way with pre-selected, ready-to-go foods. An option is also available at this level for individuals with diabetes.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company’s size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm’s responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
I was on 185 and went on Medifast for 5 months lost 40 lbs the food it works but the food is limited and really awful .. Gained the weight back . I was so excited to start th NS because of the so many foods to pick from I ordered s lot of frozen figuring less preservatives . Due to unusually high demand for our weight loss program, we are experiencing temporary shortages of some of our food products. Because of this, we may have had to substitute some items which you ordered that were out of stock with others of comparable value. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Friends and people who read this testimony say that this is one of the most interesting Nutrisystem weight loss stories they have read. But let me tell you how it all started and about my Nutrisystem results.
Do you prefer classic comforts or like a dish with even more of a world view? Whatever your preference, there are plenty choices to complete your night. You make certain to enjoy the chicken parmesan over noodles, the meatloaf sandwich, ravioli formaggio, italian herb flatbread pizza, chili with beans and exactly how around salisbury steak with mac as well as cheese.
As you can see, you’re eating throughout the day. You will be hungry many times, but that’s the point. You don’t eat to be full. You eat to be satisfied. Thus, the portion sizing I mentioned earlier. I will also point out that as I got closer to my goal I cut fruit and the protein at lunch to cut down on the calories.
